My point is more about moving an expendable midfielder on (Berry would by far fit the bill best), not avoiding Peatling because of our midfield quantity.

The club have previously been into him when OOC, but he just loved the Demons too much (direct from one of his closest mates). While he may have come to us this time, showing you’re interested in previous seasons can sometimes pay dividends later on (like it did here).

If he had just said happy to go to either SA club, then Port would’ve been very interested, they have absolutely no quality for this role after Rioli.

I rate Peatling highly and he’d be an amazing signing, but ideally we gain Peatling and still address another area of need by moving on an expendable midfielder.

I realise I’m jumping the gun a bit here, but if what is speculated is true and we think we’re a great shot at Peatling, I’d question why we decided to re-sign Berry so early.

My mate in recruiting is adamant Draper would’ve been a clear number one this draft without the injury. The fact that six clubs still have him number one on their draft board despite the injury shows how highly he’s rated. If he gets to pick 4 (I think the Eagles will take him), then I would be shocked if he isn’t called by Ogilvie.
