Excited to see this crop develop at Box Hill next year.

Have we met the minimum list size now? Cue in the rack unless we invite some delisted players to train for a spot?

Greeves will be our best player from this draft. Bank it.
Good chance when he is the best player in most teams he has been in, best player in comp he has been in.

Also has been ranked high in talent across the draft watchers. So clearly he has the talent & skills and has shown it on the field.

Yeah AFL is different but from what he has shown till now, the odds should not high for this call.

PS : eaglevision was the 1st one I saw who said he could slide due to "reasons" and he named NHH and the 2nd player we picked as the other 2.. only slid by 5-6 spots

To be fair Schubert on talent alone is, in my view, a top 10 pick this year. The fact he got to pick 23 as the best KPF in the draft is quite a significant slide.

Both Melbourne and North are crying out for a KPFs to help Larkey. Essendon had three picks in the top 13 and need support for Caddy. Schubert is a better player than Mitch Marsh on talent and also a local boy yet Adelaide still overlooked him.

In a good program with the right people around him Schubert has an enormous ceiling. Hopefully the Hawks are a good fit for him and he’ll show the clubs that overlooked him what they missed out on.

Im going to assume that Shubert is the furthest away from a debut and contributing to the list in any meaningful way. Anyone care to guess who will be the first to be named and do something exciting? Any chance any of them to debut in 2026?

Regardless of media ratings I think the Hawks recruiting team will be extremely happy with their work this draft. They have not only picked up some beauties but managed to add to the draft capital next year. The Merrett miss has been a blessing in disguise.

I heard a rumour that he was foxing all year and wanted to slide to the rookie draft so Hawks kept their draft picks..
Obviously I just made that rumour up, but it’s worked out well regardless..
I heard a similar rumour that the Hawks were feeding out negative stuff about him so the other clubs stayed away.. Pretty funny some of the stuff you hear......would be an excellent plan though.

RE: Greeves - people were melting we didn't use pick 23, people were melting when we traded up and didn't pick him, people were melting we didn't use our last live pick.

We got 4 highly rated young players, 2 extra second round picks for next year in a strong draft....and Greeves

You'd have to say this was the best D+ effort we've had for some time

ESPN gave us a B+

1) Nairn due to positional flexibility, good tank and marking. Would not be surprised to see him early.
2) Dalton due to his massive endurance base. Will have others ahead of him as a midfielder though.
3 + 4) Greeves and LeRay probably on similar levels. Greeves needs to improve defensive work, LeRay his accumulation and tank.
5) Schubert due to size.

The club is very pleased with the haul, and especially with also being able to acquire two F2's.

It seems that maybe the trade with GWS was the hardest one to pull the trigger on (read into that what you will).

The recruiting team rated both Nairn and Schubert highly.
