Man for man, Brisbane is far ahead of everyone else, but they have been brought back to the pack by two things, 1, their pedestrian coach and 2, their injuries. The debate on the first is already done, but on the second, we've done exceptionally well. It is in part good management, but it is also undoubtedly luck as well - we really dont bat very deep. If we lose any of Smith, Holmes, Cameron, Neale, Stewart, Zuthrie, SDK, J.Henry, Blicavs, Atkins and Mullins, then life gets a lot harder.

2 Weeks ago they couldnt beat Syd in Brisbane - i wouldnt call that flash form at all

No one is ahead of anyone

Personally i think Collingwood can rebound and win the flag - they were the no 1 team , a couple of games clear for the majority of the season , then they had that very poor patch for about 4 weeks , but i think they are very capable of defeating Ade in week 1 and from that point on with their army of supporters at the MCG , the Magpies wont fear anyone in the finals - those supporters are woth 2-3 goals to them

Brisbane's best is still the best in the league but they've been prone to lapses this year. Just need to take advantage when we we get the opportunity. People also thought we had little chance vs Port in the QF last year and we went alright then.
They are prone to lapses but are prone also to 5-6 goal onslaughts with precision kicking thru the middle.

4 goal lead i will not be comfortable with

All these “we will lose to Brisbane, Brisbane are the best team in it” doom and gloom comments are funny.

In the last month they have been pumped by the suns, lost to Sydney at home and barely scraped across the line at home to the hawks.

Obviously it won’t be easy but there’s no reason why we can’t and won’t win. I’m confident we get the job done.

Just watched parts of our KP loss to Brisbane and despite the end margin we were not that far off it.

We had some very uncharacteristic errors, Miers’ kicking was awful, Danger and Neale were spoiling each other in the forward line, Martin was in the backline and Ollie Henry was pretty anonymous up forward (scoreless). We also played Mullin on Cameron instead of as a mid tagger, which was a huge error IMO. Dominated the third quarter but couldn’t kick straight while Morris kicked them from the boundary line at the other end.

We only had three goalkickers for the match. Very hard to see that happen again especially on the expanses of the MCG.

The three players to clamp down on are clearly McCluggage (Mullin), Rayner (MOC) and Zorko. We played Mannagh on Zorko in this game and Zorko destroyed him - 33 touches compared to 10/no score.

Get those matchups right this time and there’s no reason we aren’t right in this game.
Bews has to stay in to do a job on cameron, with mullin running with mcluggage. Play Dangerfield predominantly as a midfielder as we need him in there vs brisbane

I don’t mind Bews staying in the team, but who would you drop presuming both of Neale and MOC return?

I don't really understand the over the top wankfest about Brisbane.

At their best they are probably the best team in it, but I honestly believe our form has been better for a large period of time.

We had an off night against the Lions a little while back (which strangely seems to be obsessed over by everyone) but apart from that we have been the best team in the league since 17 May when we smashed Port imo.

We are a lot more consistent and our gameplan is a lot more solid than what other teams have been showing.

My early go is

in: MOC, Neale
Out: knevitt, bowes ( sub)

Is that Bowes out or Bowes to sub?

If it's Bowes to be sub, you'll still need a second player out to accommodate 2 players in as you name 23 on the Thursday night and the sub comes from that

They are but this is why our midfield and needs to stand up and protect the front of stoppage. I think Henry will do well on Morris and gallop and day/Smith is absolutely potatoes farm areas. Therefore they will need lots of goals from rayner and cameron/lohmann plus clug and the ashcrofts out of the midfield
Their best chance is a centre bounce goals blitz and our best chance is if we close that down and force them to kick high into the forward line. If we do that they wont kick a winning score.

Knevitt and bews will go out.
Bowes will be the sub (some small chance its martin but hes in good form id go bowes as sub).

I agree, pending O'Connor passing any required medical/fitness tests

Knevitt to make way for Neale, and if O'Connor is good to go then Bews is out - if O'Connor isn't cleared to play then Bews retains his spot

Gotta be Close for mine on Zorko.

He's the only one who is disciplined enough to do the job from start to finish, and we prefer Mannagh, Miers, Stengle, and Dempsey as offensive threats anyway.

They'll be saying the same thing about Ah Chee for us with Stewart.

What was or is up with MO’C? He’s become as important as Ling was in our first flag era.

"Leg" was all that the club reported - hopefully we'll find out a bit more tomorrow with the injury report

I know Heeney got stuck into him at times during our clash with Sydney, so wonder if he pulled up a bit sore, maybe a corky & they hoped he would be ok but by Friday they opted to take the conservative option

Hope that’s it-this time exactly a year ago, he was having a knee scope.

You know I really get sick of the way Geelong is essentially ignored by the mainstream AFL media.

Turn in to watch on the couch hoping they would do some analysis of the upcoming QF. They sit there shit on the dogs for 10minutes, wank over Brisbane for 30 minute, move on to the Pies for 10, then talk about Kenny and Gold Coast.

Don’t think Geelong even got a mention, I mean we only finished second right.

I dont think they will tag zorko because our HF flankers are too structurally important defensively/offensively to our game.

Outside of MOC/mullin we wont have a run with role.

Too many run withs and you go away from your own gameplan

Zone football ≠ No accountability ≠ Full scale tagging as an alternative. There's room for nuance.

As an example, Mannagh may not have been a full bore Mullin esque tag last time, but I highly, highly doubt he was instructed to be as loose as he was, and allow Zorko to be one of the best on the ground.

Close probably won't tag him either, but he's disciplined enough to be aware of what Zorko is doing at all times, and that's what we need.

Alternatively, if Mannagh is going to play on him and show him now accountability, then he has to provide a hell of a lot more than 10 touches going the other way.
