This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

Weddle + Blues first is probably still a decent deal for Hawks.

I don't imagine Weddle would want to go, much like when Clarko pushed out Burton for Wingard....looking back that Wingard trade was pretty bad. But Mitchell did well to unwind the O'Meara and Mitchell deals.
I wouldn’t straight swap Weddle for Reid.

Reid may become one of the best players but Weddle will be the most important.

Weddle is athletic and a great runner, he's a good half back. Was more saying it's a fair deal than Hawks should do it.
Its much easier to trade future picks and Blues pick plus future Hawks first is likely where Hawks start negotiations

I can't see many players wanting to leave Hawks for Eagles - maybe someone like Hustwaite for opportunities is thrown in as well. Or they trade players elsewhere and get more picks in for Eagles, or players from other clubs.

Ordinarily I would just delete this type of troll as simply too low effort, but I think I'll keep it for a little bit, just so that we can all chuckle at the lack of effort.

Off you pop.

Harley trade

Jon Ralph’s Hawthorn offer

“It just has to involve Josh Weddle, doesn’t it? And Pick 10. And that’s all I’m offering. Speaking of steak knives, I’m putting Sam Frost into the bargain. Because he might play 100 games at the Eagle ... we’d haggle about (adding a future first rounder) and then we’d find a way to get a future second rounder.”
Come on down, Ralphy! You're now a member of the Joey Montagna Academy of incompetent drivel.

I do like Lauren Wood's hypothetical offer from St Kilda of sending Wanganeen-Milera to the Eagles in exchange for Reid.

Does she realise that players being traded need to agree to the trade? This isn't the US, where a player can be traded from one team to the next without any right of objection generally (this is mostly accurate, but veteran MLB players do automatically get a right to veto a trade after a certain period of time).

Why on earth would Wanganeen-Milera agree to go from one basketcase to another?

I guess the article achieved its intended outcome - I clicked on it and now I'm annoyed by it.

Like offering Day and Battle and Carlton's 1st for Butters. Im sure in theory some offers may be considered by the other party, but there is simply no way we would ever do it.

The only reason Weddle would go anywhere is if he wanted out and we couldnt convince him to stay. The idea that we offer him up is just insane.

If we sent them Weddle I'd want Reid, Pick 1, Chesser, Waterman, etc etc

A few weeks back, a few on here were spruiking Zane Duursma as possibly being saved from North. He has been sent back to defence in the last few weeks to get him some easy ball and fatten him up for a possible trade.

They aint fooling anyone. He hasnt got the required fortitude no matter how nice he may look kicking the ball.

Weddle is/will be a better player than Reid, so why are we gifting them pick 10 in that scenario?
I watched them both live at the Hawks Vs Eagles game at Marvel this year and currently Weddle is miles ahead of Harley.

Of course yes, there is the consideration that Wedds is playing in a much stronger team than Harley, etc but any concept of giving the Eagles our first round pick and Wedds is just so mind numbingly dumb.

With a few notable exceptions the standard of football journalism (and I use that word loosely) is at a real low point right now.

Will Day was a good half back once

I wouldn’t trade weddle for Harley + eagles next 3 first rounders.

Fook no. That's the kind of trade that would get you fired.

Had a thought today, imagine we got Bailey Smith last year instead of TB? Do you think we would be in a better or worse position list wise?

So the in would be Battle and Smith.

FWIW i don't regret getting TB but just to see what everyone else thinks.

In this hypothetical does Sicily still have his injury / slump? Either way I would like to wait until after the GF to answer this because for all we know Smith could stink it up once the real games begin.

The etc etc would need to contain several first round picks - and even then it might not be enough.

Weddle has the potential to be a once-in-a-lifetime unicorn, the likes of which the game may never have seen.

Don't think anyone can question the impact Bailey has had on the Cats this year. With Day missing most of the season, you can only imagine how beneficial that would have been for us.

But on the flipside, TB has been fantastic for us, and I do question the impact culturally Bailey might have on such a tightnit group as the Hawks (as I suspect our recruiters did).
