Do you really think Nas is going to say to his manager I'm not going unless St Kilda gets 3 first round picks of similar, if you do you're in dreamland , players will do what's best for them, they have a small window to earn good money and in the end its only a job for them , they aren't nuffers like supporters
Whilst i do think this is true (and in reality Nas and his manager have zero pull in trade week anyway, thats list manager domain) I am more and more warming the the idea that the 2 year deal is a backup for a trade not getting done.

Nas/Williams have to know that its gonna be a very tough and very difficult trade to sort, its not gonna happen on day 1 and it might not happen at all.

In that event he wont wanna go to the draft (reputationally nor because of the unknown) and i could see that 2 year deal getting signed at that point.

Sad thing is I just know the ferals out there will probably send him vile messages if he does leave.
It's going to happen.

It's wrong but I sure don't blame people being upset over it. It's going to snuff out any hope people had about a premiership.

Anyone else starting to feel like these other signings are deliberately getting posted to lead into Nas' eventual re-signing?

Some players absolutely want to make sure the club they’re leaving don’t get short-changed. Especially if the reason they’re leaving has nothing to do with that club and they love it and those there.
I don't think any player or player manager does. The manger will have to deal with said club at a later date with another of thier clients. Last thing you'd want is a pissed off list manager.

I genuinely dont know, FWIW, i think it seems most likely he hasnt even made up his mind yet TBH. Im not really viewing it positively or negatively, im looking at history and precedent.

Im not really basing my assesment of his value being peak right now on what Riley Beveridge said either. Im basing it on what weve seen and what we all watched play out in the media this week. Short of him kicking 19 and re writing that record he will never be hotter than he was Monday morning. At best he can maintain and cement those rumors as bone a fide offers.

Not being signed by August and being a player with a known lure of the go home factor are indicators, you can deny them, you can say that his commentary about loving the club etc are indicators he wants to stay but to say there are NO indicators he wants out is naive, its not based in fact.
I understand the history and the precedent. But what I'm saying is not naive.

I'm hugely invested in this saga - like most of us.

I value the noise coming from the media as being a definitive indicator. It would/will be dancing on our grave if he departs.

I value the player's performances himself. Look at how other player's are performing who are leaving.

I value the reaction and treatment of NAS from his coach and team-mates. If he was definitely leaving, body language, celebrations would be different.

I value all that above the simple notion that a scenario that happened before frequently will happen again.

That notion could be correct. NAS could have mind up his mind or even hiding the decision from team-mates like Battle.

But for me, the KPIs in my eyes are still in our favour.

You can fairly dispute my opinion, that's fair enough. But it's not a naive - a lack of judgement.

One other small note to make, why wouldn't our desperation to keep him add more dollars to his contract from us as the season goes on and player movement period gets closer?

Unfortunately I don't think we really know. Seems like we thought he was going to sign up a fortnight a go but it didn't happen.

I just don't think the manager will be in any hurry considering how much his value is going up.

It's excruciating waiting for it to happen but it could easily go on for another month.

If he leaves it will be utterly devastating. If he stays a moment of joy.

It's nothing like Battle who we kind of knew was gone, but also we knew there was the chance at some really good compensation. Nothing will be good enough compensation for Nasiah.

Bit of a painful time to be a Saints fan, apart from Sunday of course.

Not too many players or managers would wanna properly **** a club over on the way out (although Luke Dunstan and Bailey Smith certainly didnt give a shit) but ultimately if a trade happens then the two clubs have agreed to an outcome and no one can really claim to be mad about it.

Its a relationship industry ultimately, so yeh, no one wants to truly **** others over but Nas and his manager dont do a whole lot post nominating a club.

Again, they are indicators (id argue incredibly soft ones, his playing well so hes not leaving? cmon) but you said there are NO indicators hes leaving (or the OP did).

If youre gonna point to those that hes staying then you should also acknowledge the ones that he might go. Suggesting there are none is naive.

If im looking at all the factors i think there are far more and far stronger that he goes than stays but i also think theyre all a bit moot cause i really dont think he even knows. Any indicator only really matters if we believe Nas knows. I dont think he does.

On your final note, ive argued that point that waiting was the right strategy from him and his manager, numerous times, its worked a treat. My point is there is no more money to be squeezed from waiting. Hes being discussed as a $2m man right now. Sunday is the ****ing zenith of any footballers bargaining power, it was and is unprecedented. If we didnt get him signing Monday morning in the glow of that with the biggest contract in the AFL then, either we ****ed up and didnt use the momentum, or he doesnt wanna sign yet (which AGAIN is not a good thing for us).

And we know that SOS is hard to deal with, so if he does choose to go, Port will know that they’re going to have to pony up, if they don’t want things to get really ugly.

It will obviously suck hard if he chooses to go, but at the end of the day, if he does, we’re going to get a hell of a lot more for him than we paid for him just 4 years ago- including almost certainly one or two of Bergman, Whitlock, or Berry (who we tried to trade this years first for last year)- and just remember that the guys we got in the Lockett trade (including future AA’s Aussie Jones and Joel Smith) helped us get to a GF just 3 years later.

It won’t be the end of the world, if it happens. We’ll dust ourselves off, and move forward.

Just as we did when Plugger left.

Great point, you’re probably right

I forgot to mention that I overheard Lenny Hayes talking to some fans today, and he was talking up Tobie Travaglia. He said that he came in yesterday morning and found Tobie watching vision of Noah Anderson to learn from the best. You can see Lenny really rates him.

Very glad to see Boxshall recommit.

Also, I find the WA boys really want to go home or they really don't want to. Acres only went because Freo insisted, Farren Ray never wanted to go back. On the other hand Cripps ran out the door as soon as he could.
