My recollection is that the first mention of TDK’s was the total dollar value, $11.9 mill over seven years, not the dollar amount per year. People have just said 11.9/7 is 1.7 per year.
This conveniently overlooks the banked cap space, meaning we could pay him up to 3 mill in his first year, and the mentions of marketing, which could be as much as $300k (outside the cap), plus the natural increase in the salary cap, which would mean we could pay up to $1.5m in the last couple of years if we needed to.
But no, apparently we’re paying 20% of the cap on two players for the next 75 years.
Sound like my wife. “I had $200in cash, so my dress came down from $300 to $100”.

Possibly but I would still chose Windy because I think long term he would provide more to the club than Flanders. Flanders comes across as a bit of a twit, Windy is an intelligent well respected young man who will become a club leader and drive standards.
Would love to hear why Flanders is a twit? 😂

That's a word I haven't heard in a while haha.

Haven’t seen enough of him forward to comment on that

He looks like he should probably develop a bit in the VFL next year. There should be a bit more competition for spots in 2026. Aleer looks like he'll take a spot and really need Howard playing to sure up our back 6 or Hammer if he's injured.

I reckon I'd start developing him as a swingman. Maybe Owens too. If one is quiet up forward you could switch them up.

So, in reality, it’s a case of whether you trust those running the club and making these decisions now more than you did the previous administrations.

I know I do.

I think almost everything they have done since the resigning, and then sacking of Ratts, has been a move in the positive direction. Just a brief look at the list we have now in comparison to what we had just three years ago, should tell you everything you need to know. Drafting is chalk and cheese.

Not saying everything they do will be perfect, but as AB said they’re going out to be the best we can, or die trying. And I don’t think the club has been in a healthier place for decades.

Oh, and if Windy is smart, he’ll stay. And I’m betting he will.

It's definitely better but coming off an absolute shambles. Got to keep striving for the best of everything. Lethlean was a bit better than his predecessor, Ratts was a bit better than Richo, Libba was a bit better than Trout. We really need to have the absolute best staff we can afford and keep honing up all aspects of the club.

I think Windy probably stays as long as SOS is fairly close. He does seem to be a guy who is determined to strong arm every deal and puts noses out. I imagine Windy would rather stay with mates unless his offer from Sos is insulting or nowhere close to what others are offering.

Which makes Geelong's pick immediately before us all the more baffling. Taking Jacob Molier, who was the 2nd choice ruck at Sturt behind Dodson.

I guess they are projecting and saw Moller as a more dominant big man rather than an athletic hybrid or something. Anyway good fortune for us.

Show me another ruck forward in his first season that looks as good at any level. Apparently there should be heaps. Even just a tall player that looks as good.
Some of you blokes legit don't know how to read. It's mindboggling.

I rate Dodson. Think he is potential star. Really excited about him. Was disappointed he was dropped but okay with it. Hope he gets heaps of a crack next year.

But even your labelling of Dodson as a ruck/forward prodigy is questionable although I'm proud of you for your positivity. Just because Dodson kicked a bag of 3 or 4, doesn't make him a forward prospect - especially in the VFL. Matthew Allison looked like VFL John Coleman in the odd game.

Every time I've watched Dodson, he looks like natural ruckman who is excellent at ground level - but still has a long, long way to go with his forward craft and movement.

My point about the VFL is that it's a joke of a competition. Every team doesn't even play every other team. There is byes all over the shop. It's a terrible development league and I treat the stats from it with the respect they deserve.

Why?

Ross and Bassat have all praised the work of SOS.

Ben Williams was also very complimentary about his dealings with them.

Only Gringo and a select few think he has been an issue

I don't give a shit as long as he gets his job done. He's not wrapped up all of our contracts and over paying for a couple of speculative players. Once he completes his work he gets a pat on the head. Like a post man that is three weeks behind his deliveries wanting some positive affirmation from his customers. He's very needy apparently.

Its a different story when you're talking about a first year player racking up stats agaist a Billings , Paton type , i would hope you could see the difference ,
I'm not trying to devalue Dodson's performance. Just stating facts about the VFL. And the poster I replied to often uses VFL stats.

Geelong paid a relevantly high price for Jeremy Cameron & Patrick Dangerfield l would of thought.
Yeah, you can't take those people seriously.
Cornes is one of those small little fellas that need to rant & rave to get noticed.
And he's got a Punch & Judy looking head, the nose & chin?

Danger signed for unders and looked suss AF.

And a first year ruck resting in a forward pocket getting 35 touches isn't like an inside mid getting leather poisoning after getting dropped for the week.

Tbh, why is there anything even remotely negative being discussed about Dodson?

It makes no sense.

First of all, we got him for a draft steal.

He is way ahead of time in his development, which is amazing.

Most are pumped about his future.

Seems like some people are jumping at shadows about something that hasn't happened again.

Man it would be a tough way to live with that nagging mindset.

He's playing predominantly forward back up ruck. He's performing at a ridiculous standard while doing it. Call him a back pocket if it helps you understand basic concepts.

Matthew Allison had one or two games where you thought he might have something to offer rather than being the obvious first delisting.

I don't know what you think you are arguing but everything you say makes you sound a bit more out of your depth. It's like listening to a year 7 debate with a dumb kid that misspelled his ChatGBT prompts and is now trying to hammer home an irrelevant topic with no actual conviction.

Jesus Christ. I feel like smashing my head against a table. You are the only one suggesting that he's shit.

We seemed to get impatient with him. He was going pretty well but we saw chasing him in as a way to get back into drafts. Good list managers are looking at where they project a few years down the track in a better side not current form.

He was never settled and never given consistent runs. I think that's the same as Windhager potentially. We lose him over $100k and then have to find something better at the draft or trade and still be in front without losing ground.

You are better to cut dead wood than cash in promising developing talent. Battle and Long were both in the age bracket we were severely short ion too. It makes holes down the road and in the short term. Windhager about to bump into that pool too. We can't afford one in one out, we need to have enough to challenge in the next few years.
I'm not saying you're wrong about Ben and what we saw as an issue and an opportunity just adding to a more complete narrative.

My memory of the time was that Ben really wanted to be a defender, we really wanted him to be a forward we really, really saw him as a forward. We offered 2 years GCS offered 3 and committed to him playing in defense. Given our small and medium defenders at the time Ben was always struggling to get a game down back. Ben as a defender ended up out of the GCS AFL team and his way back in is playing as a forward. Even when he was drafted by us it was off the back of Ben's VFL prelim performance where he kicked 6. Ben insisted he was a defender. From the NT originally and I'd think going to GCS was also getting closer to family. His problems at the Saints are the same as his problems at GCS.

I love you Gringo 😂

Always a pleasure doing business with you and your dribble xoxo

What sort of a wage is Flanders rough worth at this stage?

They'd ask for FRDP and settle for a future second IMO. Probably $800k to $900k x 4 gets him excited enough to move. More on last years form but he'll want opportunity and GC don't seem to have a spot for him and are going to have to shed players to fit their academy kids in.

Like most I too rate Dodson. Looks to be our best young drafted ruck since Everitt or MacEvoy.

However, I do not think he is a direct comparison to Jackson who is quicker and more athletic. Not that Dodson is not good athletically, as he is, and he is quite agile too.

Dodson certainly can gather and use the ball, so he has the follower capability that Marshall has.

But he is not super quick, and I am not sure his leading speed is quick enough to play as a permanent forward.

He has not been a ruck forward prior to this year. He played forward often at Sandy as we had Heath and Harry....and Keeler too. Heath often played FF too when we has Campbell.

It is great for Dodson's development as all ruckman really needs these days to be threats when they play forward, or push forward.

I am hoping that Dodson becomes a big Marshall, but who can actually ruck ;)
