Might be true, might not, it does seem there is alot of noise about us ****ing about with dollars on currently contracted players while opening the cheque book with players were recruiting.

I'd be happy if he was shown the door now, and see if his replacement can get anything done in the next 2 months. Will also be a good excuse to tell TDK and Aleer that we are pulling the offers, or at least lowering them significantly.

I think no matter what club we potentially have to deal with whether it be Port or Crows, we just have to secure either an A-grade talent or a top 10 pick as the foundation of the trade

We need a talent that is of high likelihood to at least be a significant contributor to our future premiership credentials

3 late firsts could easily turn into 3 players that are GOPs at best without being needle-movers to our list build

Butters, Berry, Bergman, Soligo, Nick Murray all feel like gettable players. Maybe even Charlie Edwards - ex-Dragons youngster

Not sold on this doom attitude by this forum, can see the following all happening

Win the next 2 games, and probably go down to GWS in a nail biter

• Nas re-signs, either 2 or 4 years at 1.5 - 1.7 mil
• Windhager re-signs either 2 or 4 years 600k-750k
• Phillipou re-signs 4 years at 800k-900k with heavy incentives incase he exploded in form

Trade period:

- TDK agrees to join St Kilda,
reported 1.7-1.9 is actually a front-loaded figure and real amount averages at 1.3 mil over the life of the deal(not incl. AFL ambassador money) meaning Nas is the highest paid saints player of all time (as was reliably reported)
- Leek Aleer gets to the Saints for Future 2nd with a Future 4th coming back our way

• Pick 6-7 used on a top midfielder
• Draft 2-3 other Dalrymple diamond specials

Interesting comments from the Port list manager yesterday saying they could get the trade done with future picks.

Cannot see how. 2027 picks all devalued by Tassie coming in.

PA have some NGA and potential FSs coming up too that they will need pick for.

In would mean that PA would be offering stuff all.

They will need to use some good talent, either direct to us or to another club to get low picks.

Losing a heart and soul NGA player, who’s extremely close to the generational talent you are trying to keep and actually has an elite role (tagging) Windy by skimping on dollars and offering Aleer 700k plus is diabolical list management. Absolutely mind bogglingly bad.

I have said this several times. And this is a concept our friends on the other boards cannot comprehend.

If NWM nominates an Adelaide club and requests a trade, it is not only a difficult trade for St Kilda. It is a difficult trade for the nominated club.

They will need to give up significant player assets in lieu of having little draft capital.

As a result, losing talented players will be unpalatable for them as well.

Some will claim that they can’t trade contracted players who don’t want to leave, and that is true. But if so, and they have little draft capital to get a deal done, then it won’t get done.

Saints won’t just take any deal. People who think that are deluded. Nor should they take any deal. It may mean losing the lot (incredibly unlikely).

In the end though if it came to this then either Adelaide club will do whatever they can to get a deal done because NWM is so good.

They won’t want to risk losing him after he has nominated them. That would be an unmitigated disaster for them as well. And it would impact on their reputation to attract players going forward.

I doubt the doomsday scenario would happen. But the club has to be strong and hard arsed about it. They owe NWM absolutely nothing.

I have absolutely no idea how the NAS situation ends up. I hope he stays he’s the best player we’ve had on our books since Roo retired. If he goes I’ll still support the Saints, 50 years of repeated dissapointment has conditioned me for this exact scenario. It will be what will be.

But OMG if he goes….if you thought the Trevor Barker medal night last year was awkward with all the chatter about Battle not turning up and coming third… this year is going to be real awkward.

Fine if NAS wants to go to Adelaide but you have to give to get and I would suggest Curtin / Soligo would get it done in a straight swap - Soligo is a Melbourne boy

Soligo is the Grandson of Lou Soligo, a legendary and life member of Fitzroy Football club. Long time coterie member there and powerbroker back in the 80s and early 90s. The whole family were fanatical Lions supporters.

Battle not showing up was 100 percent the right move at the time.
Rightly or wrongly by us Battle didn't paint himself in the best light to the players during that time

Genuinely seems like Port think they'll be able to get an exemption from the AFL to trade 3 first rounders.

Then they can say they tried to trade with us in good faith and offered overs with 3FR (regardless of number)

In the end they don't need the picks anyway/would have to get rid of them for NGA or FS bids, so to Port the actual first rounders mean absolutely nothing.

Trying to score Nas and free up space for other free hits.

I wish them nothing but the worst, bring back the tarps.

Why can't we just PAY the guys that are loyal to the club and tell the others to fall in line.

I know it's what the market dictates but paying guys MORE to come to your club than you pay guys to stay is just batshit crazy.

Out motto is strength through loyalty for christ sake. PAY THE GUYS CURRENTLY PULLING ON THE JUMPER

Best mids gone, but still likely to be some ok ones left and that might put us where Jevan Phillipou will be.

Hopefully. But we do not have a 2 rounder and Aleer will cost us pick from this draft or next.
So Dalrymple will have limited picks to work with.

They also think the AFL are going to bend the NGA rules to hand them a top 2 player in next years draft. They are a special breed over there.

Hasn’t it been reported that in their second year it was Windy, Mitchito, Nas and first year Phillipou the first ones back to training and setting the standards?

We’ve successfully found the side effect of overpaying blokes who haven’t earned it. The blokes who are actually playing well expect better pay too
