These just aren't the same scenarios though.

Dusty was in a fantastic team, they were every chance to win the flag that year before he signed.

It was about money and years, neither are a factor with Nas based on what we know. No go-home factor.

He'd also been a Richmond player for alot longer - again, are there ANY examples of a top 5 player at <100 games requesting a trade? I don't think there's been one.

I'm just saying there is precedent for re-signing late. Let's also not forget where everyone in here was blowing their loads when it looked like De Gooey was coming.

What I will say is if this stuff is true and comes out to be fact, those who are in those roles need to be held accountable.
I get we need to be ruthless but why wasn’t Windhager included would be my question?! We’ve had a dogshit midfield for years, we’ve finally got the green shoots to suggest that will be changing and now we are throwing up our future best line up without him even making the bench?
Yet we will take on Tex Wanganeen who’s a very average footballer to try and please NAS? Make it make sense.
I’m sure Windhager isn’t asking for 800k a year, he’s worth every bit of 600-650k a year, we paid Zak Jones that ffs.
Loose windy over cash and bring in Aleer and just watch memberships tank.

Not only can windy play but he’s a local who also turns up at local primary schools and represents the club well.

I’ve already posted about the turn up to the school where my youngest daughter teaches and then the double up at st Kilda city juniors. A lot of st Kilda supporters have other things to do, just give them a reason and see how that works out.

If Nas is waiting until the season is over to sign a contract, then I suggest he's gone. If he stays, then there's three matches to make the big announcement, and no need to wait. I think this saga is verging on unprofessional by all parties involved.
I could only see him leaving, otherwise he is money hungry (his manager represents Nas, he has the final say). If he has been poorly paid and this is his last contract, then I can understand a bit better.

A lot of assumptions here, just wait and see. I get it's coping but at the same time we genuinely haven't heard anything outside of what has been fed to the media. Nas was out for lunch for hours this morning with all the Saints boys, had a great time by all accounts. Let's see.

Who has lunch in the morning? The man is not only playing with our emotions, he's also a monster.

Its funny 6-7 weeks ago if Butters was a realistic trade option for Nas i think we likely would have had to sweeten the pot a little (future second maybe).

Now its at least par for a straight swap, if anything they might need to beef the deal up.
Craig Hutchison summed it perfectly on Agenda Setters last week:

“Future picks don’t get this deal done. He’ll end up at the draft, he’ll end up at West Coast.”

“It’s him (Butters) plus something to get him (NWM) out (of St Kilda).”

“Butters v Wanganeen-Milera doesn’t stack up any more.”

If he seeks a trade, the Club will look after the Club and I don't think it's going to be pretty. We will want to be fairly compensated.

If you take emotion out of it and think logically, it’s now not looking great if we don’t hear anything this week.

I am grateful for the information supplied by the ITK’s, but the following are red flags for me.

-It’s round 21 and he isn’t signed
-besides some rare examples, players un contracted at this stage of the season, generally do go.
-In his interview yesterday, he was non-commital. Not even I love the club, I want to be here.
-Ross in the press conference speaks to the supporters - he knows that, I get he is fed up with all the nas chat, but his energy around is yesterday wasn’t great.
-Seems like the media are reporting Ben Williams keeps changing the goal posts.

What I’m saying is there has been more reporting about nas being generally undecided..

You want him to want to play for the club.

What can we prove to nas in the next 2 weeks against tigers and bombers if he is generally undecided.

This is shit if we lose nas, i think it generally it puts us back years with our rebuild, unless we get butters..

Or Bergman and Berry and a first rounder.

I just don’t think we will be interested in just draft picks. What, get picks in 26 and 27, then wait for them to reach their 40-50 games of football?

Here is hoping ladies and gents 🙏 , feels like I’ve seen this movie before though..

Fine if NAS wants to go to Adelaide but you have to give to get and I would suggest Curtin / Soligo would get it done in a straight swap - Soligo is a Melbourne boy

if he does go I’d honestly rather him go to port then Adelaide, port have a ****ing garbage list and are gonna be sitting at 13th for years and years to come their bottom end talent is some of the worst of all time
ten years of watching Nas sell candy past a half dozen blokes and lace it out to Jed McEntee - I can get around that

Afternoon. Back again after mainstream confirmed my Leek Aleer news.
Windhager still unsigned as we approach round 22... In career best form.
Windhager camp has been infuriated by the clubs treatment of one of their own NGA boys. From the lowballing offers to the botched NAS presentation. Marcus is a loyal young man who may still stay, but it is fair to say the List and Recruitment team at the club have operated appalling in their treatment of him.

On Nasiah: Intel suggests he is leaning towards leaving, and Nas' teammates are of the belief it will be the crows he elects to nominate, not the power.
Club clearly, still has a few weeks to change his mind.
Same account that said Caldwell was gonna be a saint and Carlisle was off to the Roos 😀

Let's say it's actually the case. We aren't exactly talking about a generational midfielder here. Perhaps they genuinely don't see him as best 22 in the midfield ahead of Nas, Pou, Box, Hall, Garcia, Wilson, etc. Gotta have the courage of your convictions I guess.
Yep I think you're spot on there. Happy to back the club in, I just hope they know what they're doing!

I've always loved how Windy has gone about it and seems to set standards and be a future leader.

Still got Wilson, Pou & Trav as midfielders to come into the side.

If SOS and the club have stuffed this by mucking around Nas/Windy and co with initial lowball offers honestly just shut the doors.

Hasn’t it been reported that in their second year it was Windy, Mitchito, Nas and first year Phillipou the first ones back to training and setting the standards?

Why would you f**k with that
Can we at least try SOS out at full back first before we shut the doors?

Pretty sure a package of Curtin and Soligo wont get it done.
Adelaide isnt trading a WA boy who seems settled to a Vic based club.

Weve gotta stop with the Draper/Curtin shit. Look at vic based, at least they might wanna come.

Also Wiki tells me Dan Curtins nickname is beef... thats ****ing hilarious.

I can't believe there's any serious talk of not extending Windy. If so, WTF is going at STKFC? Just a couple of years ago he was chosen, with much fanfare, to take the #2, as the salt of what the club is about. Surely surely surely they're not going to ship him out on the back of a much improved year where he's starting to look like a mid. FMD if he goes and Nas goes then something is very not okay at Moorabbin.

Yeah, don't think NWM cares with his more than $2M and more than 7 years as stated by an "ITK" Port Power poster.

I dont think anyone is suggesting wed dump him, the suggestion is we are playing cute with his financial terms on contract.

Might be true, might not, it does seem there is alot of noise about us ****ing about with dollars on currently contracted players while opening the cheque book with players were recruiting.

I get why, i get thats what happens at all clubs but not many other clubs have it become such a point of discussion...

This is why although I know the AFL isn’t entirely fair towards us I’ll never 100% blame them for our history. We have done that much ****ing dumb shit over the journey it isn’t funny. If we ****ed this up it seriously wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
