22 pages to go on other thread and now 15 here

wading through all the back and forth crap over the 2 year thing which could just be settled with a"we can agree to disagree"surely,thought i would comment on 2 other things though

1.dont want jack silvagni ffs,always injured 28yo

2.ports ability to organise a trade this year(i still want to keep Naz,so hypotheticat worst case scenario)

does butters want to return to melbourne this year or next?

NO-move on,bad luck Naz your staying at saints for now

YES
would butters be ok going to richmond or essendon(assuming saints is a NO,which some say,either through actual knowledge or a saints deafitist attitude,dont know which but lets say NO)?

so they have the picks than can get the trade done,it would hurt if he was prepared to go to an absolute shitdump like essendon and not us,so lets use richmond who at least have a clear direction

richmond=gain butters lose picks 3 and 4
port=gain naz lose butters f1
saints=gain picks 3 and 4 this year ports f1 lose naz

or

richmond=gain butters lose picks 3 and 4
port=gain naz keeler lose butters whitlock f1
saints=gain picks 3 and 4 this year ports f1 whitlock lose naz keeler

i know we dont want to lose naz,but this is if he is going & it is a way port could get it done,but if butters is adamant cats or dogs then bad luck port
Wouldn’t bother catching up, I lived most of it live, you’re missing nothing.

It’s starting to look like we’ve been used as leverage the whole time for the SA deals, noting Caro was running the story months ago we had our man when he met with SOS.

Then you’ve got the leaks this week around Bassat’s pitch in Brighton months ago which I don’t entirely understand. Is BW hoping for the club to reload another offer, only to be used as leverage again, or is he positioning an exit for Nas where the club’s placed in a poor light?
why would Nas allow his agent to make the club that's developed him to this level make it look like shit?

I don't agree with that at all, pay fair value or he can go to the draft.

Contracted or not, the system allows us to still maximise our return or risk going to Perth.

So you would prefer to lose him for nothing than get a starting 18 player, a 1st and a 2nd in return? You realise that he's going in at pick 1 in the PSD no matter what. WC could take him at 2.5mil for 2 years and trade him for a massive haul after one season

My interpretation of our off season hasn't changed for a few months now. My guess at the big moves:

Nas traded for Bergman/Berry, Port 2026 1st rounder and 2025 2nd rounder

Marshall traded for Geelong 1st rounder

Trade Geelong's pick for Aleer

Take TDK as FA

Nas, Marshall out. TDK, Aleer, Bergman/Berry, Port 2025 R2, Port 2026 R1 in

Honestly, I hate it but that's what I'm expecting. Maybe we get Whitlock as well. Windy is also getting to be a concern. Maybe we're waiting for confirmation that Nas is leaving before offering him a decent contract. Because he's the kind of player who will be squeezed out if we're trying to pay the two biggest contracts in the history of the sport in TDK and Nas.

I hope you are wrong on all counts apart from TDK MSG.

Surely we wouldnt give up a first round pick of any kind to trade for Aleer, plus I dont want to lose Marshall.

If there is one thing I am certain of, Nas would not throw us under the bus. He has close friends at the club, understands the history of the club, has no incentive to do so and definitely is not a dickhead.

No of course, but we just can't be bullied into taking a poor return. The poster above who mentioned Butters, he's the domino to fall in all of this IMO. Short of him being involved there's no way for it to make any sense for us.

He won't want to go to Perth.

Future 2nd for Aleer

Honestly, with you except I don't want TDK if he's going to cost us the amount of money being reported.

Keep in mind that Geelong's 1st rounder will probably end up around pick 30 - not far off Port's 2nd. So I think one of those picks ends up being traded for Aleer (unless we pull a surprise and trade Steele for him)

I also don't want to lose Marshall but there's absolutely no sense in paying 2.6 mil per year to your ruck and backup ruck. That cap space should pay for 3 elite players in key roles

Yeah, if only to make it clear to all teams that trades need to be fair. I’d rather get burnt with nothing to help send a message. The way players can pick and choose where they go is a disgrace, free agent - fair enough

If I was him and I was playing the way I'm playing, I'd leave it until the season ends. What happens if he is knocking out 30 plus possie multiple goal games for each of the remaining rounds. Value keeps increasing and pressure on us to sign him keeps building.

To add to that, this is a one of one situation.

When has a top 5 player with <100 games experience moved clubs at years end?

I don't think it's happened this century.

I refuse to believe tony was speaking nonsense.

That man is not a yapper, maybe somethings changed but he was right re: Marshall.

Didn't we do that with ball?
We wanted pies first round which went to Jolly and weren't satisfied with their 2nd rounder.
