On the ruck thing, regardless of the coin. What are the alternatives? We tried to get Xerri, we tried to get Draper. Roma doesn’t look like he’s going to play into his late-30s as a full time ruck. The jury is out on Heath and while we hope Dodson lives up to potential it’s not guaranteed.

And going on his VFL form if he can sit forward… potentially ready to come in when Marshall is cooked. And partner TDK.

Aside from TDK coming, We’d be hoping that Heath or Dodson are good to go in 2-3 years… or try and grab Ned Reeves or Sean Darcy. But I don’t watch a lot of other teams these days, who else should we be targetting?

I don't know, I think he was trying to tell us Nas is leaving with that "we've got a battle on our hands" line.

If you didn't hear that line and immediately understand the implication that Nas is just like Josh Battle, I don't know what to tell you.
Isn’t he talking about the teams development and Nas becoming a great player over 8 years?

I struggle with comprehension, but he was talking about player development before he said that, right? Comparing Nas to potentially Bontempelli?

Yes, that is exactly what he was talking about, in context.

You can take him saying "we've got a battle on our hands" (while talking about Nas) as a negative, sure. But it was in the context of talking about Nas' development this year and, generally, the challenge of developing highly rated young talent into A-grade players.

Just as context is important when he said "good luck to him and good luck to us". That isn't a "good luck at Port and good luck to St Kilda, without him" because he was literally just talking about St Kilda wanting to help Nas' development - not just for this season, but over the next 8 years. How do people connect those dots to "he's leaving" after everything else that has been said?

That is 100% talking about Nas putting in the work getting the job done and the club now having a battle to sign him.

Jay Clark -

In his fourth season, he has become one of the top few players in the game, as the Saints desperately hunt his signature only one month out from the end of the season.
But if he wants to walk to Port Adelaide, who currently don’t have a first-round pick in this year’s draft, the Saints have got to now ask for Zak Butters in return.
Wanganeen-Milera is now at Chris Judd levels of trade capital considering his speed and precision skills and what he is producing at his age.
From a Saints’ perspective, their demands could be almost impossible to satisfy if he requests a trade.
Fans are deliriously hopeful he will stay as the club hands him a blank cheque, despite the pull of family from South Australia.

If St Kilda have indeed shifted from "here's our offer" to "what do you want?" it could explain why we don't have a decision or signature yet. That definitely changes things.

I must say, it's very "St Kilda supporter" of us all to immediately assume we're going to lose the battle.

I assume a Geelong supporter, in a similar situation, would hear "we have a battle on our hands" and think "WE'RE GOING TO WIN THIS!!!"

Hard to read whether Nas is giving lip service or that is just how he is. He isn’t a polished media performer and I doubt a lot of thought was put in before hand regarding his contract. I don’t think you can read into his specific reference to his manager and the club working it out.

It will be very interesting to see if he was always leaving and he/his manager has used our known cap space to squeeze as much out of the Adelaide clubs as possible. I can’t see NAS pulling the manager into line on the “in poor taste” type strategies.

I also can’t see us making our skipper the sub to play NAS in the midfield if they thought he was leaving.

Well that was another 3 Brownlow votes for NAS. You’d think he’ll come home with a wet sail given our fixture and the media attention putting him in the spotlight. Hopefully he finishes as high a possible if he is leaving. If he was top 3 in the Brownlow at his age we would rightfully ask for the biggest return in the history of the game.

Is this the 1st time they have mentioned a trade publicly?
Saints have to be happy with future picks Mr Port Footy Manager.
So no.

You do need to speak to Butters if you want to have any chance at all.

Here’s an idea.
You keep your star and we’ll keep ours.
Done deal.

If we were 8th. Marshall just went down for the next month.

Are you confident Heath or Dodson could step up and deliver to get us into finals?

I’m not and for that reason, TDK makes plenty of sense.

Then you overlay that at worst he is level with Marshall as a genuine full time ruck. At best we hope he develops into an AA ruck.

We know why we are overpaying. We don’t get him if we don’t. We didn’t get PLENTY OF OTHER players trying to do this same thing.
TDK is not the answer
Our midfield is still the concern
Our rucks are the least of pur concern
Marshall Heath and Dodson
Can see Dodson being an A level ruck and us trading him for a 3rd or 4th rounder
Ridiculous money for tdk

That quote from NAZ is is good for another 50 or so pages
If I don’t get any work done again this week I’m going to be fired.

Could someone please, I don’t know, just beam a Batman light into the sky or something if we hear anything?

😊

What a crock of shit.

“It’s good for him, it’s good for his family… we’ve got a real battle on our hands”

Not about general development bs but about contract.

Then next question on love for Nasiah

“Hopefully he has a heart” meaning hopefully it IS something that helps sway him.

Nas is already gone. Can bitch and moan but it’s actually about what Ross does with the team next year. He’ll find a way I’m sure.

Contract was never mentioned

After allowing Port to extradite a former No 1 Pick from a lowly club that has required a supplementary draft package by approving the use of extra first round picks surely they can’t be thinking “sure why not, let’s help them go around the rules again without selecting in the first round whilst they use the draft to hold a struggling club over a barrell”.

It shouldn’t have been allowed for Horne Francis.

Have we not thrown this money at every mid available or contemplating a move in the league at this point?
