You can't expect to bring in a top 5 player in the comp without giving up something of value.
And offer them $2mil per season at that.

If you're going to entice the player then you need to demonstrate you are even in the ballpark to get it done

Whilst I agree I recall Dean gore being traded to Geelong in a fairly simmilar situation
I avguely remember Dean Gore but looking it up it seems he was drafted by Geelong (from SA) and traded to Adelaide in the Danger trade, so that one doesnt help.

Im sure players have left their home states before but a first year top 5 pick... Cant see it happening.
Bad luck. They need to convince them
Yeh thats the way this works.

You can’t offer a play the biggest contract in afl history and turn around to a club and expect the to take garbage. Not gonna happy, the afl would be up in arms

Especially when that garbage offer requires the AFL to waive the 4 year 1st round DP rule again for Port :tearsofjoy:

I didnt say any of that should or will happen but how do you reckon anyone would take us demanding Adelaide send over a South Australian born player who is 19 and just finished his first season in compensation for a player wanting to go home?

Throw out all the hypothetical trades you like but putting SA born players into the mix to come to us as part of that is utter stupidity.

My gut feeling is he stays but why is Ben Williams drawing this out any longer?

He's probably reached his max trade/contract value right now, don't see any benefit to delaying the decision even if it's staying or requesting a trade
Could also be a possibility its on our end with FA coming in working out the yearly breakdowns.
Don't know ?

Apparently Riley Beveridge said this morning his feel is Nas stays. Didn't have any mail.
Also said that all 3 clubs feel like they are in front to sign him

Well Kingy and Kane on SEN just asked Riley Beveridge where NAS would be playing in 2026 and he went with the Saints
Did say nobody actually knows but his guess was he stays put.

Pragmatists al think he stay just because of how complicated it would be to get it done. Nas is a different cat which worries me and Ben Williams wants to make a name for himself. Hopefully stays
Yes he did.

But they all agree it’s just a deal that no one can see how it gets done. As port don’t have the assets and the difference between Adelaide’s first and ports second rounder is currently 6-7 picks

So it’s the same issue as big footy discussions.
