Windy has been offered more elsewhere, others obviously valuing his output and potential more than we do.
Exactly, well best of luck too him. You need all types in a championship side.

We did the same with TDK and Aleer. So that must tell you that we value those talents/positions as a greater need. As far as where talent lies in our young players, right or wrong / luck or unlucky, Windy is at the bottom / most surplus of need.

You don't always win and you WILL lose players along the way.

Well, in the case of the Saints, we haven’t, for a very long time, actually had players that other teams have wanted to poach.
So I guess, in a weird sort of way, that’s a positive 🤣

Regardless of if they are related or not, the perception is that they are.
TDK - 1.7 Mill x 7 ( reported, probably different or front ended)
Aleer - 750k x 4 ( down from a reported 900k)
NAZ, best player we have had since Reiwoldt, reported 1.5 to 1.6 a year UNSIGNED
Windy - reportedly lowballed UNSIGNED.

So we are offering huge cash for a good ruck and a unproven backman, but are playing hardball with a player about to become an integral part of the team and struggling to sign our star because his manager had seen the $$$$ the Sai ts have bragged out.
This is sadly so St.Kilda.
We all live in hope, and I hope we sign both, however if we don't, the shit needs to hit the fan.

I cant believe supporters cant see Windy's value and growth this year. He has improved his kicking and his numbers, plus he is a future leader with a huge drive you dont move on young players like that. Id rate Windhager in front of most our young talent excluding Nasiah.

No-one is saying pay him star money but if he feels slighted it's not a good look. I'd say Windy has overtaken Owens this year and if you watch highlights he's in an extraordinary amount of our best plays.

He's tracking the same as guys like Travis Boak, Jack Steele, Chad Warner, Hugh McLuggage types that the same age. No reason that he can't become a very high level mid with time.

It really does stuff up our bargaining position offering star money to promising GOPs. Windy would think he's well ahead of Aleer and deserves equal money.
So you reckon Windy should be on 750k ? That’s what Aleer reported to be offered if true …

He is better than Aleer. However neither are worth 750k.
Windy is a fan favourite and one of the young players we are supposed to be building with.
I really hope Aleer makes it and becomes a good backman, but the optics here is very sketchy in my view.

So I guess we’re getting Connor Rozee

I bet it’s rubbish.

Found on the rumours and scandals board

Earlier in the year I was actually pretty ok with letting Windy go

He's not a star. A lot of people didn't even know where his best position was a couple months ago. Has a glaring weakness with his kicking under pressure. He seemed 'replaceable' with the likes of Tobie, Boxshall, Garcia, Hastie, Hall etc. coming through

But what he has become is an ultra reliable role player. Can play literally anywhere on the ground and will always make an impact. If there isn't a niche role for him on matchday, he just slots onto a wing and racks up his 25+ touches. I've said it before but he's an 'enabler' for the likes of NWM to thrive. Perhaps more importantly, he seems like one of the guys who has this group glued together - he, NWM, and Owens are the bridge between Steele & co and Pou & co IMO

Every premiership side has these role players who are absolutely adored by the coaches. It's the loss of the intangibles that will really really hurt the team if Windy leaves. He's still also just 22 so plenty of time to establish himself even further

Suspect Windy will be around the 600-700k range, and that we are currently falling short.

I can understand paying overs for TDK since he is a free agent so no trading. He's worth $1m I'd suggest, so overs should be $1.3m (ish).

Leek needs a trade, hes played 20odd games, bringing in a still raw 24 year old on more money than 90% of our under 25s if genuinely stupid mismanagement of our list.

I got laughed at months ago when I suggested there may be issues with this young group if a valuable and super popular member of the group gets lowballed. Sure, its hearsay, but how can you possibly build a list this way and not expect backlash.

Honestly, weve gone to the media saying we are targeting bayside kids. We haven't attracted one since, Mt Martha isn't bayside.

We've gone to the media bragging about the biggest war chest in history, only to put $2.5m into 2 somewhat polarising and still speculative players. All the while we seem to be lowballing the talent our recruiters have been able to find/develop.

This has the potential to blow up the list to the point where we may as well fold with Tasmania killing the draft for the next 5 years.

SOS sees the TDK offer like this:

$1m per year fair value
+700k extra per year just to watch Carlton implode and fulfil his vendetta .. priceless

At this point the club needs to accept that things have changed and plans need to be adjusted from the beginning of the year.

Pull the TDK and Aleer offers.

Sign Nas for 2 years on 1.8mil with a player option to extend for another 2 on the same money

Sign Windy on 600 for 3 years

Trade Steele for a late first rounder/early second and make Wilkie captain

Hit the draft again. Back natural improvement from our young players to get us into finals contention. And fix our strength and conditioning/injury management program.

Would be stoked with this team in 2026

B: Stocker, Caminiti, Tauru
HB: Sinclair, Wilkie, Clark
C: Windhager, Macrae, Wilson
HF: Hall, Sharman, Wood
F: Higgins, King, Owens

Foll: Marshall, Nas, Phillipou
Int: Boxshall, Henry, Garcia, Hill, Keeler/Dodson

Sadly this is SOS. We also have one of the best recruiters in the biz

Presumably St Kilda have put firm offers to both. If so, giving them the flick now would mean that you can forget bringing to in players from other clubs in future years as Players Mangaers will regard us as a Club that cannot be trusted.
Sign Nas for 2 years on 1.8mil with a player option to extend for another 2 on the same money

Personally I think Nas has already made up his mind. He has generous offers, and he will either being going back to SA if he feels the pull of family too much, or he wil stay (but may still be tossing up on the lenght he commits too).

Sign Windy on 600 for 3 years

I have no idea what he has been offered, But I know that it has been upped. It ma or ma not already be at that level.

It may be that Windy believes he is worth more than the sum you mentioned. Wind is say a B List Player at present, but he ma want A List money.

Trade Steele for a late first rounder/early second

I have no knowledge if a club is interested, and especially at the price you want.

Probably better value could be had ina player trade. Maybe we could swap Steele for Liam Ran as an example?

and make Wilkie captain

Agree.

If the mooted new ruck rule favouring leaping rucks come back in then Marshall will struggle at the CBs.
