I’m confident he still re-signs. Along with Nas.

We are in the box seat for both but with so much on the table we should be locking these away now so that we can focus.

Considering attracting players is sometimes a 12+ month body of work. How do you propose they have everyone tied down?

And the list as is isn’t good enough to win a flag/make top 4. So if the players aren’t willing to take a more accurate reflection of their performance or what’s required to build a successful side then I suppose you’ll continue to go to games and sign up for your membership because all yours boys got paid and we haven’t moved any closer to the 8 because we aren’t allowed to attract talent - because they might be paid more.

TDK and Aleer are sideways steps. Neither make us obviously closer to a flag. Losing Nas is a massive wound to everything from attendances, membership, on field expectation, hope, TV, fixture etc.

He's beyond what his wage is and the obvious marketing bonus player.

Windhager is the type of player that should be locked away on an average wage.

The rumour is that Windy/Agent are asking for north of $850k a year.

We want to keep him but the difference could be 150-200k in offers.

I guess it comes down to outside offers. If we lose him it sets us backwards. We'd need too go out and replace him. Would it cost us less capital and coin to chase an equivalent player? $100k isn't much. Maybe get him on a longer term front loading.

I’d argue TDK and Aleer on our current list improve us and if the centre bounce rules change so that you need to leap again.

Heath and Marshall are very obsolete

If they bring in the run up TDK probably makes more sense but we are paying a lot on potential. I still prefer Moyle or a more plain Jane option. To me no ruck is worth more than $1 million.

That’s fine.

But the players have to be available and Moyle hasn’t wanted to leave the suns at the end of each of the last 2 years probably unlikely to now that they are going to play finals and Witt’s is nearing the end

well maybe if players didn't want twice what they are worth then they would be locked up already....

The club (SOS) have created their own issues in that respect, when they openly sprouted they had plenty of salary cap, then offering TDK and others ridiculous amounts. I get you have to pay extra to move players, but in all fairness you have to pay reasonable $$$ to hold onto players.

Windhager is worth whatever the market dictates and hopefully the club are fair with him. Im sure the 'low balling' stuff come from his manager and as you would expect with negotiations the asking $$$ and the club would be some what different. Having said that if people are happy to pay Nas anything to get his signature, the club cant then try to squeeze the likes of Windhager.

If we lose Nas it will be because he wants to live in Adelaide that will be really tough but understandable, but if we lose Windhager over $$$ I'll be really pi**ed.

So if Wlkie doesn't get massive clearance numbers we delist him? Maybe that's not his role or his strength. Guys like Macrae can't do a lot outside of contesting the clearances. Plenty of mids are given the role of stopping the better clearance players from touching the ball.

I'd say Windhager has improved more than most this season and probably overtaken Owens as the better and more consistent of the two players now.

He's our fourth highest for average disposals per game this year. Puts him around the same as Will Day, Josh Kelly, Soligo, Steele etc. Above guys like Freija and Ned Long on Supercoach points etc.

He's one of those guys we haven't noticed improving because he's done it quietly and steadily rather than bursting out.
Wilkie consistently plays in a key defensive role because he consistently does his job.

Windy is yet to be consistent in the role he wants most to play. MIDFIELD.

I’ve never said he hasn’t improved, in fact I’ve noted his improvement.

In the same breathe you can find players who matched his early career progress and made it as mids, you can find plenty who’ve done so and haven’t.

He’s not there yet.

Except Nas has suggested he'd be happy to play here for 2 more years and we are now a fair way off what Port and Adelaide are willing to offer. Also very much could be that he doesn't see success in the next few years here. The idea that he wants home and nothing will change that is cope.

Aleer and TDK are sideways stepping. Losing Nas and Windhager is taking us back 3 to 5 years. Even if we draft back those players it would take 5 years and hope that one might be a similar generational talent.

Anyway I hope we finally make it so hard to enjoy footy next year that I can give up finally. I find the whole club is like living with constant anxiety. There is never anything that eventuates and and every year they find new ways to dispirit the fans and crush our hopes.
Where has Nas said that?

I cant see the rucking rules changing again, they were adjusted because of the number of PCL injuries to ruckman. Perhaps if they also reduced the size of the inner circle, so that ruckman cant get the same momentum it might work, but otherwise I doubt it changes.

If it was to change back I think the leaping actually works in Marshall's favour, his leap is pretty good its when he comes up against the bigger stronger ruckman when he struggles. Heath's leap in marking contests is quite good, but he needs a bit of a wind up to get there.

Why are people still running with the Aleer @ $750k shit?
Something to complain about

I reckon his understudy looks pretty good too. Young Knobel. Nick Madden at GWS looks the goods too.Even the human walrus Goober.

So on that metric, Phillipou, Garcia, Boxshall are all delisting material. Clark and Dow are still on good money and long contracts off very little output. You'd be better to cut them to be honest.
