If the Williams presence in Melb on Thurs and Fri is correct, quite a funny coincidence Joey's wink-wink comments occurred on Fri night pre-game.

My mail when i posted 'this could be the week..' a week ago was that Nas was signing this week just finished. I have no further mail or updates, but the tea leaves to me seem positive.

Regarding the negativity around Nas interview post game, and this is just playing devil's advocate, but if he had in fact signed and the club was yet to announce it, would that change your analysis of the situation?

To be clear, I don't know he's signed, but there is reason for optimism. The lack of real concrete leaks through this whole process tells me there's a very positive relationship between club, player and manager despite where each of their priorities lie, and this has translated into Nas' form. Every retort, comment, or media appearance from our side strikes me as very calculated and not getting drawn in to the gutter journalism despite a few tactical pieces of influence here and there.

Not to mention, this has been a massive story for months, has lured us out of football obscurity, and would certainly smash many a narrative if the club in fact have pulled it off. The management team would want this to be a statement not just for the retention piece, but the professionalism of the club going through these processes compared to previous years.

This.

If we have been playing the media with some 4D chess, we are in the right hands.

Just saw Joey and Jay Clark on first crack.

  • both confident he remains a saint
  • if he was leaving there would already be things happening in the background and confirmed Bergman (port) Soligo (Adelaide) no nothing about being traded and they are the types of quality the saints are going to ask for. Effectively say saints know nothing about potential trades either (as I said a few times recently)
  • backed it up by saying these trades are so hard to do they take 12 months+ of work to get done.
  • Joey says people at the club still confident he stays

- congratulated team nas for how they have played this.

Kingy was all "Will get done if it comes down. to him saying he wants to go". J Clarke then asked "how though" (or words to that effect). Put Kingy back on his heels "Yeah it's a headache".

We haven't heard much about Crows players being destabilised. We need to get the media start asking that question of the Crows. At the moment we are wearing all the pain. The two clubs chasing, in particular the Crows need to have some heat that it isn't going to be pain free.

Jay Clark gets the best Saint's mail. Also, the point about 12 months of work, there has been NOTHING from the SA clubs except journalistic bs. Something as big as this there would be leaks galore and noise. They can't just turn on a pin and get a mega trade like this done overnight.

Ralphy did caveat his report with "if he left it would be to Adelaide"
His report was that they were confident they could get the deal done.

Jay Clark squashed that and confirmed no player that would interest stkilda like Soligo has been approached and in a roundabout way said no one has approached us

Since this has really revved up we have won 4 on the trot.
So we certainly aren't destabilised

Interesting on First Crack. Throwing up Soligo and Rachelle. At some point there will be some Crows not be happy that they or their mates that they started the rebuild with are being mentioned by the media. Top of the ladder and destabilising players. I'm not sure the Crows are thinking this through well.

I reckon as a club membership we need to fan some social media flames and get them to realise they need to abort. Disrupting their finals campaign would give me some great pleasure.
King said he’d do Soligo / NAS in a heartbeat if he was the Crows.
So no thanks.
Also Clark mentioned that no Crows players had even been talked to, if I remember correctly.

stavro#4 post much more detailed than mine.

The SA teams just don’t have the ammo to get this done - so if NAS does sign anther 2 with us (hopefully more) we’d better have all our ducks in a row for a full on assault next time. Better yet, do not let him get out of contract.
Not sure I can live through this all again in 18 months time.

Yeah that’s correct.

But if it was happening asking for Soligo as part of a deal with picks is a likely outcome.

Adelaide would happily offload some of their players to land Nas. The fact that those players haven't been spoken with hardly matters. Did the club consult Blake Acres months before they shipped him off to Freo?

I’d assume one or two of your better players in the minor premiership side getting told you’re off is a significantly different proposition to sending Acres home from a shit side.

He posted their had been 15 reports about his posts. Maybe the mods decided a holiday?
And I wasn’t even one of them 🤣
Never reported a Saints person yet.
