Who do we lose if we keep Marshall, Windy and bring in Aleer on good cash?

I'm not sure delisting 10 and picking 8 kids will do it
Cordy, Howard, Webster, Shoey, Jones, Carrol, Byrnes, McClennan, Keeler and Boyd all facing uncertain futures. I would think there has been a substantial amount of front loading going on aswell, even to the point where we need to bring talent in to make 95% of the cap next year. There is no way our playing list has been making 95% of the cap in recent years without excessive front loading.

Schoey, Keeler and Howard (Unless cooked) will stay.

Congrats fellas and ladies, glad NWM stuck around. We know the go home factor better than most.

One of our tosspot journos is reporting Liam Ryan to the Saints is happening. I think he’s FOS but have two questions:

1. Any mail from the Saints end?
2. Darcy Wilson would be a player of interest and for whatever reason seems to have fallen foul of Ross. Any interest in a trade with him or anyone else sensible?
I'd have offered Collard 2 weeks ago but he looks like he's had a sudden attitude change and put in a huge effort as the Sub on the weekend.

Not going to dignify the Wilson suggestion.

Jeez many on here happy to trade Wilson because he’s not a consistent performer in his second season. Better players than Darcy have had second year blues - he will be fine. He’s an incredible athlete and has shown promising development as an inside midfielder at VFL level. This young group is staying together. Development is almost never linear. Relax.

I hope Collard changes, but there’s a lot.

The suggestion was Wilson is a player we’d be interested in, the exchange with his manager about dropping himself to the 2s raised a few eyebrows then Gettable saying he’s in no rush to extend.

Wow, I gotta be honest. I don't know if I could have kept going with footy if we lost Nas. Like in the context of the last decade, with the inequality in the comp and with another set of compromised drafts coming up, I just don't think I had it with me.

I know footy is about flags, but when you can't have that it's great to at least have a special player that makes it all worth it. This guy is one of those generational talents.

Let's hope over the next couple of years guy like Pou, Wilson, Tauru, Windy, Owens etc. can all take the next step and make it a place where Nas wants to stick around and achieve some success.
+1

watch the full agenda setters episode ross is dropping some absolute truth bombs:
  • our players contracts are not linked to the cap going up. so if the cap goes up it only creates more space we have (essendon are the same)
  • we are playing clubs at full cap when we aren't
  • we did this so we can retain players like NAS, Pou and WINDHAGER yeap he mentioned him specifically. i think this deal gets done now
  • our main priority was NAS. nothing major was to get done until NAS was done (see Windhager i reckon)
  • we gave out bonuses to senior group of players last year to look after them
  • wont be a club walked over
  • if you induce one of our players to breach their contract then its against the law (according to ross)
  • sounds like we would have walked NAS to the PSD
  • ross knew NAS would be ok as he was still engaged in club activities off field. if he was leaving he wouldn't have been taking part
  • were never low balling NAS we were prepared to pay
  • Terry and Rachel (NAS Parents) love st kilda, they wanted their boy back but they also love our club. would have been hard for them
  • Hill is an elder at the club, well respected, pivotal to keeping NAS. Hill LOVES st kilda
  • if NAS didnt sign would have been a massive list reset

by all accounts i think the players love the club and the environment. my read is the senior players at the end of their career just want to make sure NAS got done and there's hope they can play finals in the next season or too. i think the club will look after them to make sure they're rewarded for spending so many years out of finals.
Excellent summary.
Ross hitting it out the park.
Interesting though that it was Caro who mentioned the bonuses, even the amounts.
She has good sources. Whatever you think of her.

Pretty sure Dow is being/has been offered a new contract?

It's safe to say I've made better posts...

Most of the forum, including yours truly, wanted someone else. The major thing from your post that is objectively wrong is the speed. His jets are a thing of beauty.
Not wrong on beingg outside, but that's obviously just due to the role he played in juniors.
Kudos to everyone involved in the Nas decision, sliding doors moment for our club.

It's probably been the thing that has surprised me the most about his development. In his pre-draft highlights, I remember there were plenty of clips where he was running at 70% and hitting targets, but nothing to indicate breakaway pace. In the last year or two, but particularly the last few months, he has shown that he has that in spades. I didn't see it coming, and to be fair I don't the the draft watchers did either. How lucky are we

Finally caught up on the full day of the thread
