Amazing how some have got Voss in their side for next year ahead of Stocker.

If we FS Voss, I think the allure at present has been his ball use and also his midfield form. He could be used in a variety of roles, but yes most likely would be playing in our new St Kilda Reserves to start the year.

“He’s having his best season. He’s playing as good as footy as I’ve seen. He’s accumulating, he’s damaging with the ball, he’s leading well, he’s investing in others. He’s improved out of sight in the past 12 months. He’s taken his game to another level.’’
He’s helped the Dolphins, for so long one of the VFL’s strugglers, to find another level too.
Voss puts his increasing influence down to improved fitness (a better diet has him in good trim) and greater confidence (“II know I can put a really solid performance together every week’’).

As a FS we would get him at a discount or even cheaply, and perhaps even as a prelisted rookie
(FS players can be prelisted as a Category A rookies between the Pre-Season and Rookie Drafts, provided they are not already selected by another club in the National or Pre-Season Drafts.)
The Club may see him as worth a Rookie Slot, but not a main draft slot where a lot would depend who is available at our picks, as they prefer other players who are still available.
Fantasy Points are not the best stats, but this graph does reveal that he has been steadily improved since he first became eligible to be drafted into the AFL.

I'd like for us to have a crack at Jordan Butts for the tall back spot. He's a good one-on-one defender, still young, and is on the fringe of a pretty tight Adelaide defence. He'd pair really well with Wilkie, Tauru and Aleer as well, and would allow Caminiti to shit forward again
Totally agree, I’ve obsessed over him for a couple years now. VIC boy, would cost us chips, and just very reliable playing on the number 1 forward each week

When you see highlights of Nas so many of the deft touches that set him up are from Windhager like that one two pass. If Nas is a lead guitarist he's the bass player holding it together.
Windy is also the one that allows Nas to have positional freedom. If NAS plays mid then Windy plays back. If NAS plays back, then Windy plays mid

It's kinda strange for Ryan's management to so quickly come out and deny the 4 year offer if the offer is actually 3+1.

Whether it's a technicality or not, it's just a weird thing to publicly deny.
Very weird, especially since the people reporting on the matter have excellent credentials.

Anyone think RoMA stays even if TDK lands.

With 5 on bench and new ruck rules it might be advantageous to have them patrolling both ends of the ground.

Lyon has already said he doesn't intend to trade contracted players, i think it gives a better chance. There is also the uncertainty with King and the player he is, but any bloke that can kick near 60 goals with Seb , Crouch and Jones kicking to him has to be special if he can get fit
I believe the clubs preference to is retain Marshall.

He does want Geelong.

But it won’t happen unless we get something significant back and I keep going back to Mitch Cleary saying a top 12 pick.

As I said yesterday. It’s about the nuances in reporting.

It wasn’t leaked by his management. It wasn’t leaked by VIC media (contract offer).

It was ABC WA followed by the Rhino.

So it can only be the Eagles setting a narrative that he has an offer too good to turn down.

List management negligence - 4 year deal for 29 year old Liam Ryan

Closer to reality.

600k a year to come to the saints on a 3 year deal. 4th year is a games trigger which would require good health and form.

From the Bassat interview, talking about the infamous Swanky Brighton Dinner disaster that nonplussed the Wanganeen Milera family so:

“We did have a lunch really early in the year at my house with Nas and his family. It was takeaway Japanese in plastic wrappers, I am pretty sure Ross was in sandals and it was very different to what was presented. And I would be surprised if there was any offence to that"

I think Tom Morris has been watching too may Hollywood films! maybe they just weren’t into Ross's skanky sandals or the gyoza were cold?
I maintain the story was and is complete ****ing bullshit.

Its an easy (and lazy) narrative to paint (poor indigenous boy from the bush is grossed out by the rich white mans opulence) but i dont reckon anything even close to it ever happened.

The media cycle has to chew through a ton of words and none of them is ever held to account for any story regardless of how specifically it may be called out as bullshit (see the Nas/Tex story) so why wouldnt they just start making shit up.

The skerick of truth (lunch as Bassats house) gets turned into a story

Me too- but if ryan is coming in- he's likely to get disgruntled and want a trade in 12 or 24 months I think.

Lance has only played 12 AFL games this year- and a good % of those haven't been earned via standout vfl performance.
He's got them due to us having no other option.

If ryan comes in; i think it's likely lance will be facing another year of playing at best another 10 AFL games max.

I can see collard getting impatient and wanting to seek a trade back home.

Ryan plus another half decent player or pick for collard (who still has 2 years to run on his current deal)?
I just don’t want Collard, and probably best for him that he stays in VIC too. I’ve mentioned the players I’d be in with a pick balance but sounds like none will be on the table.

I can see Jack Steele appealing to Matthew Clarke.

Yes, we are all aware that our good youth - who we all have high hopes for or literally traded up to beat you into drafting 12 months ago would be appealing.

But there is no way we would trade them for Ryan or if we did than the deal would need to net us a great frp or gun kid in return.

29 year olds tend to be traded for not much - especially stalwarts who have won a flag. Clubs tend to look after them for meh picks in return.

The reason collard is mentioned is because he has homesickness issues. Simultaneously he did also sign an extension this year.

And just to add, 12 months ago we had Brodie Kemp agree to come. But we valued him as a third rounder. Carlton a second.

We walked away.

How can this be true when we’ve had so many post that talk of players wanting out was rubbish ?.

It makes sense if we get what we want, Ross has clearly sent a message we won’t be taking unders.

Spots won't be a given hopefully. Tauru looks a fair way off at the moment. Trav, Fincher, our new FRDP, Ari, Collard, Keeler and plenty of others are going to need to demand spots to get a run. Interesting season coming up.

Yes our preseason will be ultra-competitive.

Players coming back from injury (add Pou to this as he looks lost at present), new blood (3 or maybe 4 ready to play experienced players as well as draftees), more of our recent draftees being just that bit stronger, fitter, mature and more developed.

Keeler's body is showing real signs of change at present. A massive preseason of strength work could see him ready to bloom.

We have entered Stage 2 of of our List Rebuild where while youth remains important that very young draftees will not be quite as high a priority as they have been (Except I assume our first pick which will be say 10-15 after matches/compo picks). So our recent young draftees will be competing with more ready to go players too.

Again nuances here.

Asking if a trade can be done and demanding a trade are 2 very different things.

Lyon just setting the scene for the Marshall trade.

Difference with Liam Ryan is that the eagles are pushing him out the door for good reason hence the leaked story

ryan wont come unless they're selling him a position in the 22

gonna be hard to fit everyone in
I doubt any player is guaranteed of a spot in the 22 and he would have walked into our sire this year, Butler injured and Collard wasn't deserving of a game

The rebuttals have mainly been about Wilkie who was the main focus of those stories.

Marshall has more been journos thinking that if TDK comes in that Marshal would leave as part of an AFL Ruck Merry Go Round, and that yes other Clubs are interested in him.

The others, including Marshall, was more RTB stating that no contracted player would be let go unless it was of advantage to St Kilda to do so.

Windy is not contracted though. Other clubs are interested, and he would like more money. My guess is that with Nas staying that he would be now very unlikely to go.

I think windy will leave at the end of the season. Ross never mentions him when talking about the young core. Just feel he doesn’t rate him
He mentioned him abit the other night in agenda setters and windy was quoted yesterday as saying a deal should hopefully be done soon

Also, for the first time in a long while we can actually trust that the club appears to know what they are doing.
Look, I'm as ecstatic as anyone about Nas, and you couldn't wipe the smile off my face for 24 hours after 1pm Monday.

But I don't have great confidence in the club overall.

The TDK deal now looks worse than it did a couple of months ago. I'd now call it disastrous in light of Nas' increased salary, which will only increase expectations in 2027 assuming he maintains the elite level he's displayed this year. And in light of Heath and Dodson demonstrating that our existing ruck succession plan, in all likelihood, needs no tinkering.

Secondly, reports of offering an almost-29 year old a 4 year deal - someone who isn't even one of the better players on a historically terrible team - further raises questions about whether St Kilda "knows what they are doing".

Just got reception for the first time in 3 days, being in remote cape york

And I can tell you, I am absolutely rock hard. I might faint due to the amount of blood flow going from my brain to my now gigantic (normally minuscule) dong

Personally would rather pass on Liam Ryan and go for Zac Bailey next year, restricted free agent.
throw some cash at him

And with a year to go on his contract, you know that the Eagles will be asking for more. We cant be vocal and say that we would expect proper payment for any contracted players and then be surprised if clubs do the same back.
