Reid looks like an absolute gun. One of the knocks was supposed to be he is slow. He clearly isn't.
The smart people wanted Reid. However we need to back Travaglia.
Glass half full happy Clapper here but Tauru, Boxshall and Dodson look like steals from that draft
If we had of landed Reid, Tauru, Boxshall and Dodson ( with Barratt and Said not showing much yet) it would have been the best draft since Reiwoldt and Kosi.

As it stands, I am not writing off Travaglia yet.

If Dalrymple thought Murphy Reid was too slow he needs to go and have a look at the goal he just kicked against the Bulldogs. Travaglia might become a decent player but Reid is already more advanced than most other kids playing the game.

He looks quite quick and gets contest to contest today. He's a very good player already.

Agree, it was an unreal draft for us overall. I think Trav has shown some great signs, I just wanted Reid really badly.

Will have to get over it..

Surely not. He's been very ordinary for most of the year.

Today was one of his better ones too. He looks very exposed one on one. He looks much better suited to a loose intercepting role. Perhaps he's Battle's replacement. He looks like an athletic beast but just doesn't look like he's going to win a contest against smaller guys like Sharman. He'd be screwed on a gorilla forward.

I'm just not sure I'm seeing what they are. GWS has an incredible VFL side most weeks. He doesn't stand out in any way.

Anyway back to Windy, we need to find a way to attract him to stay. We can't bleed an important cog with the momentum we are gathering

It seems like a no brainer to offer the same duration as a minimum and then give him a 25% stay at home tax off other offers. It's not like in year 3 he's going to be below best 22 standard and worst case you send him to a back pocket or something for others to play midfield.

On today Hill, Steele, Macrae and a few others look like the maker links longer term. Jones obviously gone. Not sure who he's holding out of the side at that point.

Surely we can can Jones and use his money on Windy. Draft a speculator with our last pick and use the difference for Windy.
FMD even at the end of the day if we landed a Flanders, and lost Windy it would still be a loss in my eyes. We are bring up NAZ, Windy, Chito, Pou, Garcia, Keeler, Henry, Trav, Tauru, Boxshall, Hall, Hastie etc together, apparently a tight knit group. To pull at a loose thread of that tight knit, may not see it unravel, but it would certainly be frayed.
Not as important as NAZ but almost as disappointing, if we lose him.

No way imo. Quality of this draft is already low as it is, can’t afford to let Carlton pick two players ahead of us and get Dean for nothing.

I wouldn’t either unless it was almost certain it would give us the Phillipou / Ludowyke combo. Would have to be a draft night deal.

Which ‘Sainter’ here suggested Darcy Wilson in trade discussions?
That'd be me.

Said he should be traded. Goes on to kick 5.

Should have said he should be delisted and he would have kicked 10.

Reid fell out of the top 7 well before the draft. Go watch Twomeys draft rankings and phantoms.

For whatever reason, clubs soured on him as a top 7 prospect.

Not with me, I'm claiming certified draft guru status. I was firmly in the Smillie and Reid camp.

... Although I thought Lindsay was a dud as well and he's looking pretty decent...

If Dalrymple thought Murphy Reid was too slow he needs to go and have a look at the goal he just kicked against the Bulldogs. Travaglia might become a decent player but Reid is already more advanced than most other kids playing the game. Just dumb recruiting in my view when the kid was under our eyes 24/7.

Dalrymple preaches that recruiters need to avoid looking for traits in players similiar to themselves, but I reckon thats exactly what he did when he chose Travaglia.
Don't think Dalrymple ever said he was slow, it was speculation by mainly us here reasoning why the recruiters maybe saw him as a stretch.
I don't think Dalrymple has ever mentioned Reid, but stand to be corrected.
In the champs from memory he played in the mids and looked a bit one paced, but it may be the position he played.
Like I said not knocking him as he was my selection. Just remember Travaglia being more dynamic with run, but he was playing HBF.

Considering Oscar Allen told WCE that he wants out today, you suspect if Flyin Ryan is requesting a trade that we will know soon.
