2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

If Flanders was at a vic club you'd be talking 2 firsts. Last year he was around Jack Sinclair level and just hit 25. If he was at the Saints we'd absolutely melt if we weren't getting 2 very good picks back. I wanted him from seeing him play VFL. He looked ridiculous, then they started putting him in the side and his value skyrocketed.

You'd find it hard to get two players as close on every stats but Flanders still ahead on nearly every one of them.
Last year my Ferrari was worth $2m but then I crashed it into a tree

Don't know if Roh is disrespected on here, they way other players are.
He has two years on a contract, we can test the partnership next year and if it is struggling still get value for him.
All on the proviso that he wants to leave. He is a loyal bloke but if a strong and well run club like Geelong came knocking, and he wanted to go, well I would be ok with that.
It's not like we are sending him to Carlton or North. In his latter career he may have a chance at a flag.

Saints TV did an excellent little piece on Marshall earlier this week. The stats guy (can’t remember his name- he’s extremely switched on) highlighted our ruck/clearance stats for the season. Really highlights how our mids are required to play a negative first role at clearance because of Ro’s inadequacies. Our coaches know TDK will allow us to set up completely differently and there’s strong optimism that out clearance issues can strongly improve.

Feels to me like jack Silvagni had been a fairly average player and then had 1 good (not amazing) season as a defender? What am I missing here
Never really been played as a key back.

Was a third tall forward second ruck for the longest of time.

Was very impressive this year. The issue is he just never seems to stay healthy for long enough.

On the Windy contract. If Windy signs for significantly less than the North offer, that will be two Saints resigning when rivals have offered significantly more.

Will the brain dead footy media see the corelation between offering significantly more to get a player out of their club ( TDK for example) or will they continue their idiot trope that the Saints are reckless and overpaying players to come to the Saints?
I think we both know the answer to that.......

So….all those people thinking we did the dirty on Ratts to get Ross - are you still thinking the same way?
Because the Blues board keeping Voss has just screwed them spectacularly!
Said it a million times, but the only thing the club did wrong was extending Ratten.

That’s as easy a lay up as possible. Surprised it took this long, Windhager is worth having on the list, even if he doesn’t get any better than he is now. Which he obviously will improve further.

Not up to speed as things are moving so quickly, but do we ask SOS if he would like his job back?

I am assuming he was sacked due to the exodus.........

Wait, what???.......
I'm struggling to keep up. He was sacked for not re-signing NAS, then rehired, then sacked for losing Windy. Has he been re-appointed or is he still sacked?

💯. Woody does an excellent job with his analysis throughout the year (check out his channel) and anyone doubting the TDK acquisition (and over hyping Marshall) needs to watch it:

The West Australian today, I want him.View attachment 2411115

West Coast got an absolute bargain grabbing Shanahan at #30, if he was in this years draft he would be top 5. Having said that we got a bargain taking Dodson late so I guess we cant get everyone. I can see why the club are planning to trade out of this years draft, although there will be some diamonds, it is 2 levels below last years quality and depth.

It's obvious that it's the money windy wants over 4 years that is the problem for us, not the 4 years.

We obviously see him as a high risk of being on big bucks playing vfl in a few years after being overtaken by the likes of garcia, pou, wilson, box etc.
We have now upped our offer from two to four years and reports are he is likely to stay now.

Seems like the length of the deal was obviously a big part of the issue and it was strange we only had two on the table.

A brilliant review.

He highlighted Macrae's stats for the year, which were really impressive top 10 in a lot of important actions. I have been critical of his lack of speed and the club grabbing him at seasons end. I have to apologise as I was obviously seeing what he hasnt done and not what he was doing well. I was wrong Jacko you had a year better than we would have expected.

Nas also said that 10mins after he told Ross, Cal Twomey sent out the tweet that he was staying for 2 years.

Cal obviously has a very good source at the club.
The club probably told Cal, lmao. It's a smart thing to do, shut down the rumours, give us some time to come up with marketing tools.
