2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Alright I'll concede they don't always but they do often go hand in hand. The overlap is high because the same biological, psychological, and social risk factors drive both.

Statistically it's around 50% of people with a drug use disorder that also experience mental health issues. It's not an insignificant number.
That 50% number is based on peer reviewed journals too so it's pretty reliable

Sure

But you said drug use. You didn't say disorder/addiction etc.

Has comparable stats to Butler, but just gets on the Park more often. I don't think we pay to much!

He's like if Snags was faster and could sit on shoulders. He turns absolute shit entries into goals too. Can play some contested ball stuff when needed and come up with the play. People will love him IMO. X factor and a bit of class about him. Reinvigorated and in a better side he should look a lot better too.

That TDK general thread is wild. The Blue Baggers are really showing their room temperature IQs.
never have i met a more delusional bunch of supporters and fans living off past glory that the majority of them weren't alive to last experience.

They seem to think that being an AFL player isn't a profession and hold their players to the same standards of tribalism of those that were held in the 1950's. Similarly, they also don't seem to grasp the concept that there are 17 other clubs in the AFL trying much harder to win premierships than the teams they were competing against to win their "16 premierships". It's not some sort of ****ing "privilege" to play for your team more than any other team because of how successful you were in an era before the invention of ****ing electricity.

I know all fans have groups that can be shitty to their players, but they are a genuine vicious lot that turn on a dime and are genuinely rabid. Wish them nothing but failure for the rest of their existence.

Worst supporter base bar none

Injury concerns aside, I’d probably rather SOSOS than Aleer, as I don’t rate Leek very highly (especially as he’s an ordinary kick) and we won’t have to trade for Jack.

And with Wilkie, Caminiti, Tauru, Barrat and even Keeler on the books already, we ought to have guys coming through who can play there if Jack continues to break down.

Plus, his name is Jack, so of course we should get him.

We’ll just have tell him to wear a t-shirt to any meetings in future.

He was absolutely enormous and lost a heap of weight. He'd look like a Whitchetty grub in a condom.

I was happy at the thought of landing JSOS and renegging on Aleer but according to Edmund we will probably get both.

Throw in a fit Howard and the defence will look a lot different next year.

That gives us some seriously juicy defence depth. I am all for both.

I dont like us being linked to all these Blues players, we have already got enough Carlton blood inside us. Didn't anyone watch Battlestar Galactica? (the 21C version not the camp 80s one) Look what a mess they got in with all those Cylons aboard.

Besides that, I might be on my own here but I have no interest in Curnow or Walsh at all. Happy for us to stir up the nest, but its going to come back on us one day.

JSOS: sure, but 800k for 4 years for an injury prone 28 yr old is borderline. Hope that Bassat is keeping his eagle eye on SOS.

Overall we're doing exactly what we planned to do at the start: hit the draft for two years then attack FA. Intrigued to see if we give up this year's 1RDP: gonna give the Gringo cabal ammo to slaughter the club for repeating the mistakes of 2019. "Oh but we know what we're doing THIS time" lol.

I wonder if Matteas would be a better player with his little brother on the same team or up against him? Hopefully the club psychs have their view.

I'm totally fine with trading Steele and Marshall. We all know Steele's had his time and if Marshall gets us a decent pick, he might have to be the sacrifice we make. He'll probably win an AA with the Cats but thats life, we have bigger fish to fry.

I know a lot of Blues supporters including family. Most are just beaten by it all. They still have a big club fan base but not many are arrogant any more. Even when they were winning they were waiting to fall back down.

Those absolute ferals aren't most of them. I think it's become a way to get yourself noticed now and they do it for clicks.

I don't even find giving them shit enjoyable any more. It's like kicking an emaciated geriatric dog.
