2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Add King and Ryan to the forward line with Higgins and I’m pretty sure we’ll be kicking a few more goals next year. I’m looking forward to Round 1 already. I’d better book my flights to Adelaide.
Nek Minnit ….

Loving the narrative in the media (this time Malthouse etc) stating that it is typical St Kilda paying overs for mediocre players. TBH do not give a flying fk what the external narrative is - if we nail this off season I'll be damn happy.

To do that I think we still need to lock in Flanders, that would cover all lines and address an immediate need - the midfield.

TDK, Ryan and Silvagni are legit without giving up draft capital.

WE will not know until this time next year but the in's along with Phillipou, Wilson, King, NWM, Travaglia, Hastia, Tarau, Boxshall, Sharman, Hall, Windhager (please), Owens gives us a very good young squad ready to have a crack.

They don't have to be stars as long as they make the side better and get us back into finals

TDK definitely helps the midfield with his tap work and lets us feed mids instead of setting up to be defensive from every bounce.

Jack Silvagni is going to make a very leaky back 6 a lot tighter and hopefully rebuild our defencive dominance of the last few years.

Liam Ryan is an extra scoring threat that allows freedom to rotate Hall on ball.

Flanders likewise allows Nas to play on ball while swapping with him for runs on ball.

All are obvious hole fillers and all will cover some pretty significant weaknesses.

If we can get some internal progression on top we should be a serious side.

That said our fitness and medical staff are going to be our most important staff next season. King fit and less lost games and we all of a sudden look a lot better even without the additions.

Yep agree - what are the odds of us actually getting Flanders?

So what is everyones opinion on what Liam Ryan is going to cost ?

I saw someone suggesting a future second. Probably about right but WC might dig in because they have to save face.

F2 should do it.

Worst case.

F2 + F3 for their F4 and Ryan.

Third and fourth rounder won’t be too far apart.

Dylan Shiel has been cut by Essendon. Let get him and see if they’ll throw in their first round pick as well.

Please take good care of Liam 🙏 🙏
He still has a lot to offer if used correctly. One of my favs ... so I wish him some success with you guys.

It will be good to have him back playing for a team I support, I loved watching him play for Subiaco, not so much for West Coast.

Some Flyin' Ryan highlights from his Subiaco days.

I remember watching him back then and thinking how the hell is this guy not playing in the AFL, he was too good for the WAFL.

I wished we had got him back then but we have got him now, better late than never and he should have a few good years left.

I think Bassat has his hands all over it.
Particularly in the planning and execution of this strategy.
The list choices - absolutely Lyon.
The thing is that they are in working to the same plan - that's what makes it so strong. Everyone has heard Bassat say what we are going to do and now we're seeing the entire club working towards that plan. Very strong leadership from the top.

On Lyon being involved in list choices, it can't be any other way. The list management team will do all the leg work, but the head coach has got to have some input - and probably a right of veto.

I have no idea why the eagles board seem to think we are willing to trade Boxshall AND Barrat for Ryan and an F2… but that is what they are discussing.
There’s WC supporters in the Ryan trade thread who think he’s a “medium tall forward” who will be competing with Owen’s for a spot.

They aren’t handling being down the bottom of the ladder very well.
