2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

His organisation down back is so important as well. Often plays 100% game time and rarely loses focus. Directs players around him which is vital in a well oiled outfit, and his communication style is easily understood.

One of Windhagers strengths as well, IMO. Able to maintain a competitive focus for lengthy periods of play, despite his youth, and players respond to his direction.

Stephen Silvagni

St Kilda is the big swinger in this year's exchange period. They have gone whack and are looking to land five new faces to their list. Free agents Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni have been secured, while a trade for Greater Western Sydney defender Leek Aleer is making progress and will involve future picks. The same looks likely for Liam Ryan, who wants to join the club, while the Saints have their first pick – No.7 overall – on the table for Gold Coast midfielder Sam Flanders, who they met last week in Melbourne. Rowan Marshall is keen to get to Geelong, so seeing the price St Kilda list boss Silvagni and the Saints put on his head will be a key factor in the trade window, while St Kilda gun defender Callum Wilkie has the Western Bulldogs chasing him hard and the backman is weighing up their four-year offer. St Kilda - and Silvagni - will be front and centre of this year's trade window.

Much like we’d ask for overs on Wilkie so would the cats on SDK. I disagree it’s huge overs but I’m also not gonna argue semantics over a hypothetical that’s almost certainly not gonna happen.

If Wilkie is going (and I’d rather just keep him) then we somehow have to turn that into Friejah (minimum) and SDK or we’re going backwards, if it improves Geelong I couldn’t give a shit, what they do isn’t my concern.
You dont make sense here
Improving Geelong is the exact reason not to trade Marshall
He is what they immediately need.
We need him as cover for Tdk & King
We dont immediately need Sdk, we have that position already covered

Surely we don’t trade Cal

Would ruin 90 % of our momentum imo.
I know Ross has said multiple times that he wants players to look at their options and backs himself and the club to maintain an attractive workplace, but bugger me, we lose Wilkie and we take a huge step backwards.

Just look at Harris Andrews in the GF, irreplacable, was BOG for mine. You can plug gaps, but star players win you big games.

I’d give up TDK, Silvagni etc all to keep Wilkie.

Don't see a world where trading Marshall is worth it. At best Cats will offer their first. No thanks, we absolutely need him. He doesn't have to be a star forward, just give us a target and Owens and Sharman will be far more dangerous.

If Steele wants to go, I would facilitate that. Will help with Ryan and Aleer trades and is surplus to needs now. He had been a great club man, but you have to make tough calls sometimes. Not clear he is best 23 anymore.
See, now Geelong could trade their first PLUS a player to someone else for a higher first - then that would be worth our time, so lets not rule anything out before we give them a chance.......

I reckon 0 chance we get Freijah.

I reckon if Cal is going the target is Sanders.

Without getting into specifics. Is this possible?

Key pieces:
Pick 7 Wilkie Marshall

For

Flanders Sanders SDK

(Trade time is fun 😂🙃)
Whats the point of aleer then. We dont need that many backmen.

Youre trading out someone in the engine of the midfield for someone not in the midfield. At some point we need to be building the midfield out effectively not trading it out for more of the fringe.

Is Wilkie interested in his 750k, plus some Moose Toys for his kids, a caravan and some michelton wine from Gerry, and some steel cap boots and high vis vests?

I know some guys.
I got a box of galv screws I’m prepared to throw in as well.

Geelong are not prepared to give in order to get. Totally unreasonable.

Their draft capital is not strong. And they want a dual Coleman medalist who is contracted for another 4 years.

Carlton should just tell them to go away.
They should be more blunt by telling them to take a long walk off of a short pier.

How the hell can he turn that down ( contracted yes, I know).
And honestly what would we expect to get get back from the Dogs?
Would have to be huge.

I’m refusing to even consider this happening.
Naughton and Bont on well over $1M per season and I don't think they've been putting cap aside like we have. I call BS.

Love Jesse, she is box office, such a star. I really hope we ramp up the combined St Kilda AFL and AFLW team marketing, makes perfect sense. Would love the blokes to fully come on board and treat the AFLW team like sisters in arms.

Imagine if Jesse and Nas could be sent on an all-expenses paid romantic holiday and hey presto 18 years later, a Father&Mother-Son or Daughter selection that would make the Riewoldt three look like the Gowans twins!

Got a feeling that kind of coupling would go about as well as when Elvis met Marilyn Monroe, though

Yeah l disagree. Extending Ratts mid season when we were less than convincing to that point only for him to go on and lose nearly every game after that was the source of any industry mirth. Perhaps you mean the footy media who would find a way to shitcan us for a 3-peat if it evet happened. Ratts sacking was the deathknell of the amateurish acceptance and the dawn of a more focused and professional administration. Laughing stock? Piffle..
Yeah, sorry that's exactly what I meant. I thought it was a brave move after a costly misstep, but he wore a shitload of flak for it, and some still talk about it now. Laughing stock in their eyes, not mine
