2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Except one afternoon / evening when they didn't even fly up to or turn up in Wangaratta for a scheduled pre season game against the saints. It was stormy weather.
My young children and I had driven all the way up there to see the game but the Bombers didn't even turn up. No care for the expectant young fans?
Too affected by peptides?
What an absolutely arrogant team!
An absolute disgrace.🤔
Genuinely **** essendon but wasn’t that game cancelled (albeit last minute) by the afl?

Or am I missing the sarcasm?

Goodwill was front loading his contract
Goodwill was $50k bonus
Goodwill was informing him our recruiting strategy.
The club owes US, the members, the best possible outcome.
Ross quoted Scott about not giving away contract players.
Lyon has stated we are not mucking around and not here to make friends.

Sorry goodwill from the nice Saints has been used up over the past 150 years.
I do love you Joff but you gotta start quoting Ross properly.

You don’t trade contracted players unless it benefits the club.

In terms of best possible outcome I think they’re gonna do that in every instance but it might not be the way each individual member thinks.

I didn’t think the TDK money was the best call but you’d mount a strong argument now that getting him led to the mass influx of players wanting to come (along with other stuff).

If they offload Roma I’m sure it’ll be because they have a plan regardless of what we get for him.

I'd rather see Ro go to the PSD than the Cats - not that we're in that situation.

Only let him go if it makes us better next season, nothing else will do. Can stick the 2025 R1 pick in what is meant to be the shittiest draft in recent memory.
Water shed moment for the club .Talk a big tuff game, let’s see it put into action.HE IS CONTRACTED .Not fair ,not reasonable deal,Anything less than an over above win is a Fail ,and all the noise of standing up for ourselves is just BS.

I agree with most of what you say, but it's not just about the players. The clubs also have to look after the player managers - who seem to be running 75% of the AFL right now.

I am all for a big return for Rowan Marshall. But somehow I just don’t think we are going to get what us supporters think is our due.

Of course I might be wrong. But I am not holding out enormous hope. We’ll get something. I just can’t imagine we are going to hold him if we don’t like the offer. And there doesn’t seem to be another suitor. No one outbidding them.

And Steele won’t be a big return either. If indeed anyone wants him. We’ll see.

We will get 1 first round pick for Marshall at the very worst

Steele is interesting. But let’s say he goes to Adelaide. Pick 15 probably turns into 20 and I’m thinking that’s right spot in a weak draft.

If SOS can turn Steele into pick 20 I’ll get his face tattooed on my ****

The local area had that much rain in the lead up. We had flooding up here only a few days later. Schools ended up shutting to make sure kids could get home to the rural areas.

Bombers thought they would be smart and fly to Wangaratta. They were too good for buses lol.

I don't see how they get both deals done. Assuming they use one first for Marshall, the 2027 firsts are worthless given its the Tassie draft.
Can’t do it without trading out a quality player like Holmes and that’s not going to happen.

Just wait until they make their play for Butters and hear show me the money, that will be amusing.

From memory half the Saints team chucked on the kit of the local team and put on a bit of scratch match. At least we respected the fans who turned up.
