2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

The only day that I ever went there kelvin templeton kicked 16 ****ing goals against us.

That is reason to hate them for an eternity!!

Spuds game was the only time I went out there. How funny was it when he went on a run down the ground with a few bounces, had a shit at goal and tripped over and landed on his face?!

Lappin played well that day from memory.

Emotional game.

lappin didnt play
everitt 6 loewe 5 o'brien 4
winmar 42 harvey 40 anderson devonport smith sziller spider all in the 20s

libba and west 29 and 23
osborne and hargraves 3 each

winmar had 1 less kick than the dogs leading disposal winner
harvs had more handballs than all but one dogs total posession count
96 more possies,14 more tackles
they won the hitouts and the free kick count

brownlow harvs 3 winmar 2 j.smith 1

was a great day

I must be confused with another match that I went to there then. Perhaps I did go more than once! 🤣

Went to quite a few games at the Western Oval including that one where Templeton had about 8 taps, paid as marks, in the last quarter.

First game was in late 1975 when George Young got moved to full forward and proceeded to kick 9 goals.

I do remember a game involving Lappin at the Western Oval, however recall it was a Fitzroy home game as I was watching it from their social club.

Because he is 29 year old mid that has been out of form for three years, averaged 20 touches a game as a genuine mid and has been asked to look for other options.

He holds very little value unfortunately
Agreed. This is why I think we should just keep him as a depth player. We'd get a 3rd rounder at best if he were to leave. Reckon he provides more value than a 3rd round pick as a rotating mid/fwd or depth

Guaranteed midfield minutes at Essendon is the AFL equivalent of Sisyphus' lot
Steele has indicated he want to stay hopefully for success. Won't get that at WCE or Essendon.
Only a Bulldog ( nope) or Sydney (?), look like challenging for the 8, and then the eight who probably don't want him.
I really think he has indicated he doesn't want to go to a rebuilding team.

And he’s our player, who is prepared to fight his way into the team, who is professional as they come, not sooking it up and will bleed for the club.
Why just swap him for another depth player with no loyalty to the club?

Not a hope in hell Jack's going there
I’d say this is a pretty good opportunity for a bloke who might want a 3 year guarantee with his football morality lurking Mike.

He plays every week next season for them. Maybe even the year after

Massive leadership vacuum once Merrett goes. Big body to support the kids etc.

Crikey would be crap to see him running around in Injector’s kit. Only marginally less respect for them than I have for Carlton.
