I’ve seen a few people saying the afl should step in with NAS and offer up some cash to force their hand and make him stay?
Would make sense from a commercial perspective imo, if they want a truly competitive competition I don’t see how losing him gets the comp any closer to being equal or more competitive than it currently is.
If Ben King can be swayed by the AFL and their ''ambassador allowance'' surely there is a way they realise the importance of keeping Nas at St Kilda for the next 2 years.

Glad to see you identify yourself as a DH.
Nothing to do with identification - that was a public broadside at the entire forum, or at least anyone within it that gets sick of your permanent sackcloth and ashes routine.........

Like I said, bite me.....

With all due respect this is why I don’t really understand your reluctance to give him 2 years at 2m
Without necessarily putting words into stavro#4 's mouth, I think if these are the only circumstances we can retain him, then he is satisfied with that. But I think his argument is with greater financial commitment from us, there should be longer physical commitment from Nas. And Stav thinks PA's situation asset wise will be no better in two years (I don't necessarily agree with that, they have time to stockpile picks and don't have to collect academy kids and father-sons, but could choose Nas instead). I mean this is part of the problem with the system: F/S and academy picks come with the assumption that this will be in addition to draft picks and trades in instead of instead of. The system would be fairer if clubs had to sacrifice current assets to access father-son and academy picks. Right now they don't really have to.

aaaah, just get him to sign on for 2, win the cup in 2027, sign him up for long term then or trade him to a bottoming out port team with actual assets. Financial commitment? With the amount of cap space we have it's a worthwhile investment

I've been getting texts from mates who follow other clubs talking about the win and Nas. They usually treat following St Kilda like a disorder and look at their feet and talk in whispers about us. Huge boost for the footy club.
Nas is a player that people will pay to see, a player who needs to be in prime time and is probaby 10000 memberships next year right now.

I will tell you what, everyone is talking Nas at the moment, but I also saw flashes of the future with young Viking up forward yesterday. I suspect he will be a force of nature with a couple of pre-seasons under his belt.
A force! So glad he is getting a run forward, also elite footballing IQues by Tauru to continually turn it over on the last line of defence the last few weeks.. oh you think I'm a backman do you? some serious realpolitik strategem on display

has anyone figured out what bongos for longer actually means? is this windy's Covfefe moment?

I have broken the code!

Bongos is the code word for signed, therefore NAS has signed for longer!

Max Hall signed!

You know it makes sense 😂😂

This is the answer.

But I want to add, I don’t think we are winning the flag by the end of 2027. There is a big gap between us today and the contenders + flags are bloody tough to win.

If we lose nas, it doesn’t matter what the plans this club or the expectations this supporter base has. We aren’t contending for years.

So, if hypothetically and that’s all this $2m talk is, the only way to keep him. Then sure.

But if you want to be paid $2m a season, then ****ing commit to us so we can build something.

Rohan Marshall's kick after the 6-6-6 penalty has changed the trajectory of the St Kilda Football Club.

He's a smart footballer and I don't care if TDK is coming or not, he is a must keep.
I want Marshall to stay but this sweeping statement completely disregards the fact he was absolutely battered by Gawn for most of the match. Which is no shame, mind you, as Gawn is a star.

If I knew Marshall was struggling with an injury (I don't know this for a fact, I assume he is) then I would excuse most of his poor performances this season.

But let's say he is not injured and he is struggling, then a first round pick for him would be ideal.

Only the club will know the answer to this.

This 'heart and soul' stuff is bullsh*t from nuff supporters who become attached to players.

Again, I do want Marshall to stay. Would like to see at least one season of him and TDK but some of the rhetoric around Marshall leaving is laughable.

What’s this have to do with anything?

If we lose NAS in 2027 - we aren’t winning anything.

You need point of difference players to win flags (or at least tip the tub over due to the added cream)--look at Dusty at the Tigers--Nas is that type of player. We MUST do all in our power to keep him. It will set us back years.
