Here's how it looks if everything goes right

Hastie Caminiti Wilkie
Sinclair Aleer Stocker
Windhager NWM Wilson
Hall King Owens
Higgins Marshall Sharman
TDK Phillipou Macrae
Wood Tauru Garcia Steele Henry
The concept of having Wilkie as a 3rd tall defender again has me salivating

I’m sure they probably do but that doesn’t mean they have an answer.
I’d argue that if you have set a deadline or agreed with his agent that we need an answer by X.

And you don’t get ANY answer. That in itself is one.

At some point Nas needs to make a choice. Because as we have discussed to death - him leaving would mean negotiating the biggest trade since Judd (without free agency or newly created expansion clubs) needing to be negotiated.

If it's any consolation the

wait a second... today counts as within a week right?

could be another breadcrumb...

Hall to sign
Pou to sign on and extend
Windy (we hope)
Nas (we REALLY hope)

Club wants them all wrapped up, big photoshoot and a middle finger to the AFL world.

Wouldn't that be nice.
SaintsTV round table interview. Make it happen!

If we are paying near $2m per year (which is obviously speculation only) then I would really want a longer commitment than 2-4 years. Thats an astronomical amount, and the only reason TDK is getting $1.7m is because he's a free agent and is essentially signing for the rest of his career.

He can request a trade at any time, but it means we get full value for him rather than a single FA compensation pick down the line.

Clearly do what we can to keep him now but we're stupid not to play a little bit of hard ball on that.

Look on the bright side:

- The Adelaide clubs would be asking all their talent if they'd like to **** off and join the Saints because they'd much prefer Nas.

- Nas has chosen the very time that his value is being examined under a microscope to create images in Saints colours that will be shown on repeat for as long as the AFL exists.

- In light of his emerging status, it is almost impossible that anything offered in return would be adequate, so the whole industry (including Nas & benny) will not be surprised that we reject it.

- We don't "send him to the PSD". We show him a contract that probably every player in the AFL would sign, knowing that he has strong relationships throughout the club, and we have gone to great lengths to nurture his talent and will continue to do so.

- His manager is most likely begging him to wait and see what the SA clubs can possibly offer. When everyone laughs at these offers he signs that lucrative contract with St. Kilda FC, and we all live happily ever after with premierships and medals and celebrations.

The main questions marks here for me are around the backline.

Not sold with Hammer yet, still young, still learning. Hoping he bulks up a bit more if he’s going to be the fullback. Howard may come back in otherwise if he’s still around. Who knows how Aleer turns out as a player.

Plus there’s the Tauru equation of where he ends up. Could interchange with Marshall up forward.

Just about sold on hastie, has the goods, needs the time to develop. Not sure how you’d balance with Sinclair and Travaliga off half back, sincs won’t be retiring anytime soon.

Stocker safe if he can play websters role.

Wilkie the general for as long as he sticks around.

All of sudden that midfield starts to look damaging.
The goal kicking/license to roam mid NAS -> Hall
Inside/outside Pou -> Garcia/Windy
Inside/defensive Macrae -> Steele

Id also love to see what the 1-2 punch of
TDK/Marshall and the King/Marshall combo looks like

I have Tauru on the bench as the spare tall. Rotates a bunch of players at either end.

I don't have Trav in yet. I remain hopeful but unconvinced.

Hammer/Howard is a push for next season. But I want to see three talls so Wilkie can free up and intercept.

We will need to replace Webster on the list.

Theres a parallel universe where fitzy wins big brother and we don’t have to deal with this crap
I think most player agents use the same playbook tbh. Hardly revolutionary, but this is in part on Nas too, easy to make the agent look like a greedy villain but then again it’s easy to do that with any kind of agent.

Love stocker as he is as hard as a cats head but not convinced he is the answer , has several flaws in his game IMO

I honestly think we’re all just coping.

If he wanted to stay he would have signed by now. Like what really is another 2/3 weeks going to do lol. He's been here for 4 years.

It’s a shame cause he’s a gun but eh upwards and onwards. We’ll get slaughtered in the media kind of like now but what can you do when the bloke wants to go home

I'm still somewhere between bargaining and denial in my stages of grief.

Sounds like another genius Ben Williams plan to drop a hint to St Kilda of what he wants them to pay.

More like they've gone to some of his big brother housemates, asked their opinion and called it news.
Decision imminent

Firstly, Bontempelli re-signed last week. So he’s not the only person waiting until the last minute.

Secondly, if Nas had signed 6 weeks ago, his value and payday would be significantly less than it is now. Perhaps him and his manager backed him in to have a great year and to up his value through the course of the season (which he’s done). Even if he stays at St Kilda, I’m betting he’s glad he waited until the last possible second.

I assume it’ll get done in the next week or so, if he’s staying. His value isn’t going to get any higher.
Don't forget Lloyd Meek

Apologies if someone has already posted this but my mate is at the 40 year + members function and he said that Missen said that we should hear on NAS over the next week. That’s it.

I was at that function this morning and both Delana and Misson in they the way they spoke were not all positive about Nas staying. They did not say directly if he was going/staying, but the way they phrased things did not fill me with any confidence. Nas's manager is certainly not in favour either.

Even Butler when referring to next preseason remarked, IF he was there....

Briefly spoke with Nas....who looked very uncomfortable with all the attention he was getting.

Sharman confirmed that the play that won the game was all developed on the spot. Apart from Nas waving and yelling at the forwards to move to the right which included Sharman, Hill also ran forward telling the forwards to do so.

We all hate his manager...

But geez he's nailed this negotiation so far!

Prior to rnd 1 I thought he was comfortably a $1m player..

Now id be ok with a $20m contract.

They'll tell stories about this contract year
yes he is a genius, "when player form is go up, dont write on paper", the title of his forthcoming tedtalk

Going to a stuffy house full of old white corporate guys is how to make someone leave not stay. Should have gone to a strip club and got on the powders to attract an athlete. Time and place.
Well in that case it sounds like I am the perfect candidate to host players that we are trying to re-sign !!

Legit still have my brain wired that Vienetta for desert and imperial leather soap in the bathroom means people are ****ing loaded.

Isn't that true? We have been leaving the good bar of soap out for the guests then putting it away when they leave for years. Going to have to move to Norsca and hope that it's still classy like a Volvo.
