ITK’s have gone very quiet. Not even a murmur. Somethings changed from a few weeks back I think. I think Nas wants to get home to Port and his team are giving them time to come up with a solution to compensate us appropriately. Hope I’m wrong.
Or, they’ve said their piece, nothing substantial has since happened and we just need to be patient.

Hopefully it’s the latter.

Guys, take a break tonight. Don't get worked up other Nas. I've seen nothing of substance in media or from an ITK saying he is leaving. The only leaks and ITK (even from that C4 bloke) is that he is signing for 2 years.

Until we hear or see otherwise, assume that.
Nah he’s gone, cos…

Might be something, probably was nothing.
Last night when Pittonet had that goal from 50 odd and the whole team got around him I noticed tdk kinda go in and then once he moved away immediately lost his grin and no one really celebrated with him.
If there wasn’t all the talk surrounding him I wouldn’t even have noticed.
Probably reading way too much into it but it was interesting body language.

Talking about highly paid players the Bombers have some really over priced players just look at McKay who joined them - he has hardly paid his way and they have a heap of other so called stars who have serious doubts on there career due to injury issues.
From head knocks to Achilles injury's.

I can't stand Essendon, but they are in the same situation as us, continually stuck in the mid table while Gold Coast and others get multiple free players unavailable to them.
They have tried buying players to be competitive due to their big 4 profile and that hadn't worked.
If one of the avenues to players is taken away ( they tried trading, us and North have tried drafting because other clubs players only want to go to 'bigger' clubs) that club will just be forever in no man's land.
This is what the AFL want, a confected competition where fake teams get all the players so they can pretend the game is growing in the rugby states while the heartland is ignored.
An absolute joke.

I have been relatively untroubled by the NAS situation. But maybe his great form and everyone else being nervous Nellie’s has me suddenly a bit worried. Port just doesn’t have enough compensation.

If he did leave it would be nothing we have done to him. Would be totally family oriented. What a dilemma.

Lazer would have done that if he hadn't done his knee last H&A game v Port.

Even on one leg, could have just king hit Jarman and used the good leg to boot Ellen. Lazar would have gone down a hero on that stretcher and what lifetime ban.

Christ guys, is it really worth getting so worked up over something we have no control over, if Nas goes the world doesn't end, it's just a game.
Plugger left and we survived, if it happens that he leaves we will get decent compensation ( I hope )

If we apply this logic across the board then we might as well shut the site down...

Would love to know the sort of money we have been offering NWM. If the 1.7 number is correct for TDK then surely Nas is entitled to ask for the same, if not more.

The question has to be asked why do these senior players want out of the club? I understand thats sometimes the nature of the business, but how can that provide a good environment for these kids we are bringing through. The top teams never seem to lose senior players unless they want them out. Surely at our point in our rebuild we need Marshall & Steele with their experienced heads.

I would have no problem with Collard moving back to WA, I still think its going to hit of miss if he makes it.

Steele and Marshall have played 2 finals in their entire career, and one was in 2020 infront of like 10,000 people in QLD. The top teams don't lose senior players because they are contending and playing in big games.

I don't begrudge either of them going after success in the last few years of their careers, they don't owe us anything. We've been too good to bottom out and not good enough to truly contend for Steele's entire time here, can you blame him for wanting to try and win a flag? From a team list perspective, Roma out for a draft pick + TDK in is a net positive IMO, and Steele is no longer the

Merrett and Cripps both way better players but similar situation. I don't think any Essendon/Carlton fan would be upset if they both moved on at the end of this year, they both gave their clubs every single chance to build a contender and it didn't work out.

When has a player ever announced mid-season that they are leaving at the end of that season?

It's something that the NRL does completely different to us. From my understanding, a player can sign a FA contract 12 months out and still play for their current club, and everyone knows it.

It would be a massive cultural shift for the AFL because we are still romantic about player loyalty, but it would save these awkward situations like TDK where everyone knows he's leaving and he has to pretend he's not.
