Yes TDK is killing it at the moment. I know you are a club apologist, but if you think he has been playing well, you are deluded.
Just looking at his stats he hasn't even been that bad lately after being incredible earlier in the year, you're saying a couple of VFL level rucks are better than him? It seems many just want to go off at him before he even arrives, watching the game today we have a big guy problem and TDK is exactly what we need.

Which wrong player has this group attempted to land?

They have thrown the same money out to:
  • Brayshaw
  • LDU
  • Merrett
  • Rowell
  • Callaghan
  • De Goey

And apparently Harley Reid + others I’m sure I’ve forgotten

Stopping short of kidnapping players. What else are we supposed to do?
Was talking draft
McCartin over Petracca
Clark was ok
Coffield over Bailey or Ed Richards
King over Bailey Smith or Butters
Nothing 2019
Nothing 2020
Started in 2021 with trying to get mids in the draft.
Left out Billings over Bont because that was not a wrong selection.

Because of the above we have a huge gap in our midfield. Steele a good trade, Crouch good, Macrae started well has tailed off, then there are the likes of Dow and Carroll.
A mediocre midfield and has been since Goddard and Dal Santo left.

Been a Marshall fan for years but to think his past is where he is at now is blind. Contested marks are pretty much limited, lost a yard. Has the occasional burst then disappears.
He may come good or may not. Do you hold onto a 30 year old in the hope their form returns?
Regardless of TDK this is where he is at.
Grundy was crap for four years.

I understand that. But your post was calling out the decision to offer TDK big money.

We need to pay someone and everyone else has said no. But paying TDK it potentially allows us to cash in on Marshall which puts us back in the draft with multiple firsts.

Dimples picks thus far.
  • Max Hall ✅
  • Travaglia
  • Tauru ✅
  • Barrat
  • Said
  • Boxshall
  • Dodson

Fairly promising start.

It's fair to say that the last month has altered my view on the list.
Unfortunately though we seem to have extended a few seniors out a bit far, but perhaps they can help kick off our new vfl side next year.
Wood and Hill? I suspect they will both be paid very little by year 3 and be seen as extra development coaches.

The Errol Gulden goal late is a prime example as to why we need a stronger ruckmen. Too often are the opposition benefiting from hit outs to advantage.

Roma has a lot of great qualities as a footballer, but is no help to our midfield. He no longer has an impact at ground level either and has always lacked footy smarts.

It has been quite a while since he has won a ruck duel. He would struggle to be in the top 15 ruckmen at the moment.

Or more mature players know where to stand to limit the best players which comes from experience. Who ever was playing on Gulden should have been making it hard for him. He looked like he was open in space. Someone should have blocked his run. Lot's of mistakes in the back half too.

Just rookie mistakes from young kids. Tauru kicking a high looper to Hill who got run down, a few where all of the backs went to one player leaving others open behind them, all of them coming up with the play leaving three behind them etc.

I hope so, his knee also looks crook. However I didn't see Battle drop his bundle last year, or NAZ this year. Maybe says a bit about his character.
Carlscum would be a very toxic place to be atm and the whole team if performing awful. Nothing to worry about for us.

Yep, the question is - will Rowan retain his trade value if we hold him for 12 more months?
If we want maximal return, now is probably the time - otherwise it's Jack Steven all over again

He was dominating early this season
Seemed worth every penny at the time
Well hope he gets back to that next season.
Most here understand he is not worth 1.7 but realise the circumstances he is getting it and won't bag him if he isn't the greatest player to ever put on a boot for the Saints, however the average Saints punter will just see 1.7 and expect miracles.
At the moment he seems like he can't handle the pressure. One thing in his favour is that we are irrelevant in the football media's eyes so may avoid undue scrutiny.

“It doesn’t rest any easier making that decision and thinking back. I’m forever grateful to Carlton. They taught me probably 70 per cent of what I learned from football.”

Hamill was coy when asked whether a lucrative financial offer from the Saints lured him to Moorabbin.

“I’d have to check my bank account,” he said with a smile.

We have always had to overpay when we have been shit to land talent. Gehrig & Hamill were paid absolute fortunes back in the early 2000s.

This isn’t a reflection on stkilda in 2025. It’s a truth about our club due to its lack of success.

From all reports marshall wanted to leave last year
I agree not worth 1.7 but we free up Marshall's salary for a late first rounder and this isn't that bad considering we are 2 to 3 years away from being a regular finals team

The money part is a given, we use it or lose it.
My initial post was that we should reassess in light of
A) our ruck stocks seem very solid going forward
B) Our midfield is our perennial weakness.
It would be negligent if the recruiters aren't reassessing. Does this mean they would recind the offer? Probably not. Is there a midfielder that would cost no draft capital and is a salary dump? Maybe.
Have we other things in the works that NOBODY here knows about? Definitely.

I know we will spend the money on a good ruckman and will take no joy if it goes **** up. It is a huge gamble in light of our current rucks.

Probably already been discussed here but gee it would be nice to see contract signings of Hall, Windhager and Stocker. All have had bloody good seasons and you wouldn't think would cost the earth. Surely they are one's we could lock away for the future and show Nas what we have in mind.

I just don't get this take. Carlton isn't a great place so on the eve of signing the biggest contract in history he chooses to go at 50%?

Next year is his last season so not as long.

It's a pity Collard is struggling. He's the one who should be overtaking Butler next year.
Said might have jumped him based off today. Did some nice things and got in some good spots.

If we aren't playing regular finals before 3 years Basset and the board need to fall on their sword.
