Have geelong, Hawthorn, Dogs, Pies, Dees & tigers all been operating in a different system to us?

Because they have either managed to win flags or rebuilt into a position to challenge over the last 10 years.
hahaha

with 4 of those clubs being the biggest clubs in Vic if not the comp

Go look at the Pies drafting, it's pretty woeful, but offset by F/S, but more importantly, their ability to trade for bigger name players.
Geelong is much the same, along with the Hawks, who attract FA and trades at want
The Dogs who have lucked into a rich vein of FS and NGA, we forget they gave up 3 1st round picks for Sanders just 2 years ago

Tigers are 2nd last. not sure they have managed to rebuild anything, but they had no issues getting FA and trades done

FA, F/S is something we've had a distinct disadvantage in obtaining; our biggest trade had been Hill and we overpaid both $$ and pick cost to do that

Should be beautiful under the roof tomorrow 😎

Meanwhile…

“Hey cuz, come back to Adelaide and we can have fun together playing for Port” ⛄🌧️☔

Nothing to with being a mid which is what was being argued.
Has been playing as a small forward mainly this year. Will transition in a year or two to the mids.
Was hot on Reid but still happy with Trav and Tauru

Pies have been helped recently by Father sons, them beating us in the GF wasn't a result of father sons etc

Geelong did have a few father sons when they beat us ill grant you that. However every club has the same access to father sons so again its not like we dont have equal opportunity. What the cats done well is have sustained success while we crash and burned which has since enabled them to attract talent.

Tigers??? They have been one of the most successful sides of the modern era. They have won 3 flags in 8 years and are rebuilding now. By the looks of it, they have nailed their picks and have rebuilt an entire list in what 2 or 3 years while arguably we have been trying for 15 years and are no further infront.

The reason we haven't been able to attract talent is simply put, we have not been successful. If our fortunes were different and we jagged 2 or 3 flags like we should have and ended up say a Geelong, im sure we would have been viewed different and a much more attractive place then what we have hanging over our heads as the most unsuccessful sporting club.

Toce was absolutely elite. Sadly it ended up fortuitous timing but it looks like his legacy at the Tigers will be one of the all-time great hauls. The great man was our best since

No issue with Toce but his predecessors were terrible .

Our recruitment as a whole over a period of time was and has been poor. Way too many misses.

Hopefully Dalrymple lives up to the hype .

Elshaigh in particular was a disaster .

If Gold Coasts advantages were so great, they'd have won a flag by now. GWS too.
GWS should have won at least 2 flags by now with the handouts they were given. They actually have no excuses. Every time a player left they were replaced by more first rounders.

GCS were a couple of years behind but they’re getting there now. One thing, I suppose, next season they won’t be gifted the unbelievably soft fixture they got this year - oh hang on, it’s the Nepo babies, they still will., plus all those top 10 draft picks 🙄

23 touches
13 score involvements
6 assists
Only players in afl to achieve 6 score involvements before turning 19 is Cyril amd coaching

Reid's forward entry stuff is elite, something we could do with. He is a very smart footballer, his footy IQ is through the roof. It will only be time building his body/tank before he moves to the mids.

Off topic but this seems the most active thread to get an answer.

What days/time can you see the boys have a decent training session next week? Flying down from northern nsw for a holiday on the Mornington Peninsula tomorrow.

Not sure if its been answered but it usually goes like this, main training 2 days before game day and other training 2 days before that.

Usually between 10 & 12 with it starting a little later (10:30-11) on occasion.

Enjoy the Peninsula, you might get lucky and see some whales off the back beaches but it'll be bloody cold winds off the Strait.

100%, almost all of us saw it in his draft year. Tobes has a super high ceiling and potential, but Reid has the class and skills to be a super impressive player and is clearly ahead at this stage. Backing our boy in though, but only because we have to make every post a winner and hope is all we've got.

Which one of Brayshaw, Serong, Young would Ried replace in that midfield? That's without going down the Bolton, O'Mearas etc
That's not the point

The point is people are indicating that Trav over Reid was a mistake given we needed a mid

But there was no evidence from today to highlight that Reid as a midfielder would've been a better pick than Trav

From today? Well if you want to look at it from today, Ried seems to be 10x the player that Trav is.

How you can base anything off today is beyond me.

I'd be fuming if that happened with us.

If the club says "one final year" that's the coaches cue to leave. All this has done is wasted a year of Ports development under their next coach.
Yep fully agree - Never a fan of this whole planned take over. Right now you look at the coaches available, your hands are tied if you wanted Horse, Buckley, Simpson etc due to some plan with an unknown quantity.

I hope we dont do the same with Enright.
