I'm not sure anyone thinks our drafting hasn't affected our performances but surely we need to isolate Elshaughs drafting from anything either side of it.Teff-nut said that our current problems had **** all to do with our drafting and all because of the academies/FS, which is absolute garbage. Go your hardest whinging about the system, I’m right there with you. There’s a heap of broken elements in comp but most of our recent problems have been self inflicted.
Can we pass on Aleer and direct that money towards Silvagni instead?
He's playing much better footy and is a FA.
Mid rotation ? Doubt you will see Higgo or Butler anywhere near the middle of the ground. I think the old story of started late is a bit of a wives tale, he may not have had as much bash and crash on the body but his body is still the same age as every other 29 year oldStarted late as well didn't he? Can't see why he wouldn't have another 3-4 years of prime footy. Him, Higgo, Butler and Hall (Mid rotation) would be an incredible forward mix.

you might be rightOn Nas, realistically, I think we should prepare ourselves for disappointment. There is unfortunately enough concerning reports to counter the positive ones. I think the club means a lot to him and we are clearly prepared to do whatever is needed moneywise to retain him, but being unsigned at round 20 is now in the likely to leave category.
Matt Owies is the same age and goes at 1.17 Goals PG.I think Ryan is a very good at giving you bang for possession. I think he gives you a very good option for a few minutes a quarter as a dynamic onball threat.
If you want to talk stats. Why are you not talking about the fact that over his 121 game career, he averages:
1.21 Goals PG
2.12 scores PG
And they increase comfortably in west coasts only 3 good seasons he played in. His last 4 seasons they have been utterly shit.
For all the shit that SOS cops, signing your son on a huge deal just seems a bit questionable. Not sure it would pass the pub test.l especially considering his injury issues. Can we pass on Aleer and direct that money towards Silvagni instead?

Absolute bargain. Would be used by Collingwood brilliantly4x $600 is pies offer
Rumour has it it was a done deal and then someone showed SOS this thread and it brought great sadness upon him reading that it would be seen as mucking through Carlton’s scraps yet again, with a dash of nepotism so the deal was cannedCan we pass on Aleer and direct that money towards Silvagni instead?

His strike rate seems impossible.
And I accept that our development was no good as well but jeez... Trout needs to be a statistical outlier or he ruins everyone's efforts.
you might be right
but let's say you are his manager, and you know that he has decided to stay rather than leave.
You've seen the money being thrown around for TDK - are you rushing to get a signature when his value goes up every week?
If i was his manager, I'd be saying lets get you a big contract for 2 years at St Kilda. Whatever we get you now, the 2 SA teams will only improve on in 2 years time. If you move to SA now, you probably don't have the same contract value upside in 2 years. This next 2 years at the Saints sets you up for life.
We all know this decision isnt necessarily driven by the $, but 2 years gives him the best of both worlds.
And in a nice little touch, it gets him over the 100-game mark which potentially gives his kids the option of following in his at Terry's footsteps should they choose to.
No to Aleer and can I get a hell no to Ryan.I think the idea with Aleer is more that acquiring him frees up Wilkie to be Wilkie again.
Maybe the Saints are chatting to Silvagni as well?
Howard fairly likely to be kept another year. Unless they did say get the Aleer /SOSOS Combo.
As long as we keep Nas, TDK, Aleer, SOSOS and Ryan (for Collard) would combine to make a large difference in 2026.
Plus our first pick on best available mid.
Mind you I think that we may well win three more games, while the Dees, games and with Dees, Blues and Port will sink so our 1st pick may blow out to 12-15th.
Poor SoS, should log off BF and go with his instincts like Kevin Costner in Draft Day.Rumour has it it was a done deal and then someone showed SOS this thread and it brought great sadness upon him reading that it would be seen as mucking through Carlton’s scraps yet again, with a dash of nepotism so the deal was canned![]()
He’s good value at that but I was told he was on around that mark at Carlton, pretty sure someone said $625.4x $600 is pies offer
Family ties aside, it would make more sense than TDK, be cheaper than Aleer and cost us no picks. For all the shit that SOS cops, signing your son on a huge deal just seems a bit questionable. Not sure it would pass the pub test.l especially considering his injury issues.
I’d argue what makes hawthorn good forward of the centre is that they have multiples of these types. We need a Butler pressure forward replacement. It's not Liam Ryan. If he is a Max Hall type, we already have Hall and Liam Henry.
He was playing wafl, footballs football. In the nfl they track how many carry’s running back have in the college game and even at high school.Mid rotation ? Doubt you will see Higgo or Butler anywhere near the middle of the ground. Hall was the mid rotation not the other 2, my mistake for writing it poorly. Blame the public school systemMid rotation ? Doubt you will see Higgo or Butler anywhere near the middle of the ground. Nah public is fine , worked for me , well sortaHall was the mid rotation not the other 2, my mistake for writing it poorly. Blame the public school system
What ever he signs for, let’s hope it’s longer than 6 hoursHas Nas signed yet
If we could turn Steele into Walsh (subject to an intense medical) I would
Might just want to get used to Aleer , just sayingNo to Aleer and can I get a hell no to Ryan.
Collard is contracted for another year, if WC want him let’s screw them over.
I think we’ll win plenty of games with a fit king, Howard, poo, TDK, butler and one or two more money ball pick ups. I’d take the Aleer cash and go hard for another quality player, hopefully a mid. We would need to add a bit more cash but that’s ok.
