Yep, there’s been a clear strategy to hit multiple first rounders since SOS joined, using the FA and compo system. The Steele/Ro situation looks like another instance of this. Whether you agree or not this has the same air about it as Gresh and Battle.

Why go out and get Dalrymple if you aren’t going to feed him the ammo he needs.

8 first round picks since 2021 sets the foundation for a rebuild.

Gary Ablett Snr struggled to get a game at Hawthorn so went to Geelong.

Cal Wilkie didn’t get drafted until he was 22

Sam Mitchell spent years in the vfl before winning a brownlow

Jalen Brunson was a role player at Dallas until injuries expanded his role and now he’s one of the best point guards in the NBA.

If sport has told us anything it’s actually the opposite of your statement, some people just need opportunity to show they’re good enough.
You’ve just made my point actually because you’re pointing to the exceptions, the guys who weren’t predicted or expected to be stars.

It also 100% supports my statement if your good enough you play.

Anyway I’m over the Aleer debate i don’t rate him, a few do. The club will do what they please and if he washes up with us I’ll be happy if he proves me wrong.

Super talented is collard. I really rate him.

But at this point it’s hard to see this kid settling for us.

It has to be a conversation and if you could straight swap him for Ryan. It’s a worthy consideration
20 year old with some home sickness - lets just toss him out and trade in an injury prone 28 year old - who is also from WA and has spent his whole career in WA.

I cannot understand why we are not lobbying to be part of the Dreamtime game next year? Why do Richmond and Essendon have a monopoly on this? We should definitely be considered for this game next year based purely on the proactive work we do and the nurturing of Indigenous talent.
Promise them we’ll wear our Red, Yellow and Black strip.

That way even if Kelly stuffs it up again she’ll at least be correct.

I know we dont really have a lot to discuss in general but guys dont get too wrapped up in players like Ryan which are extremely unlikely. The club will be inquiring about nearly all OOC/available talent if could be a list upgrade. All Morris has to hear is a wiff of one of these to create a story, no matter if its got genuine legs or even if it makes sense as a list strategy.

If the AFL pony up assistance for WCE I will puke. The first period of sustained struggle where they actually have to fight their way out of it and they've got their cap in hand. F*** off. Jaysus Christ the entitlement of that mob. One of the richest clubs in the comp. Members coming out their arse, their brand new home town stadium with a 99% pro them crowd half the season. Statistically proven benefit of umpiring significantly favouring them at home. F*** em. Let them learn what it's like to be shyte for an extended period and have to fight their way out of it. And if you want to give up two first rounders and two second rounders for Tim F******* Kelly then you've made your own bed.
They also should have changed their coach and CEO much earlier. Let the club run down and now asking for help to get them back up again.

some NAS info

So others close to the club are suggesting that NAS has not signed and it isn't imminent.

My source isn't iron clad but has known bits and peices along the way and hasn't been far off.

Club wanted to do 10 years but the agent only wants 2
Much more could of and should have been done sooner by the saints.

Can anyone that knows something refute this?

Happy losing Marshall for the right price… after bringing in the biggest FA on the market who plays the same position and is years younger.

They’re not comparable.

I think it’s more likely Marshall stays than leaves anyway. And less than likely that Ryan comes unless collard requests a trade.
going off Morris article ryan is chance for saints or bombers, also says tsatas hobbs and perkins(wont mention the other dickhead)possibly on way out

how about
ryan to essendon
collard to eagles
hobbs tsatas or perkins to saints

can we see anything in any of those three?as i agree with several here up to the post im quoting,i dont want Ryan either & these 3 are at least in the age demographic we desire

If NAS only signs for 2 years.

Then your opportunity cost is that you have 2 years to put a side around him worthy of sticking around.

There is a significantly bigger picture to all of this.

2027.
Port are looking lousy and Adelaide are a serious team. We’re in the finals conversation simply with a fit best 22, no need for wild top ups.

WC are naturally selling anything that’s not nailed down trying to get young talent in the door. If collard wants out and WC love him let them pay a fair price.

Saints have had offers the whole time...not much more they can do than that...the rest is up to Nas and his management

in all honesty, what more can the club do? Hold him down and make him sign it???? kidnap his family and make them move to victoria?

If there is one player i think we can safely say that we have done all in our power to keep, it is Nas. Keep in mind this hot streak of form has grown over the last couple of months.

Yes I heard the exact opposite

If that is the case then SOS has really stuffed up. Instead of swanning around the USA looking at propects there he should have been getting a signature on the NWM contract here. I think he is gone.

Bongo bucks is a slang term for money or it was when I was younger.
I’m a few pages behind, so I apologise if this has been mentioned.

But the term Bongo Bucks is used to describe huge wads of cash. For example, if someone gets a massive pay rise they may say “I’m now making Bongo Bucks”.

It’s one of those terms that has gone out of fashion in recent times.

Windhager was presumably using it in a social media post to infer that NWM will be getting a lot more money in his next contract.

It's a difficult thing to believe. The club has done a power of work in creating an environment for our aboriginal players. Nas himself has had significant support. He's been offered contracts throughout per the manager's requests. He loves the coach and is seemingly given autonomy on the field.
I think we shouldn't look for issues where there is little smoke unless you are willing to share something not available publicly.

Like I said, the source is tenuous but a real one though it is third hand.

The club acknowledged they could have done more in the Battle process and had 'learnt' from last year, so by their own admission, they have failed to do everything they could in the past.

For me, the more concerning factor is the lack of 'imminent signing' information. I hope I am very wrong.

The invitation to others to share who may know different is there. Again happy to be wrong

Bruh Nas isn't going anywhere.

The agent is just a FW. Finally got himself a star player and a moment in the sunshine.

This is more about him lining his pockets than it is about Nas.

Look at Ross in the most recent presser, he's so over talking about it and has taken a number of swipes at the agent, as has Carl.

Even Nas' family want him to stay because they can see how supported he is here, he isn't going anywhere.

It's just a power play from a C grade agent.

The website that they link to in their IG/Twitter bio doesn't even work. They haven't paid for the hosting.

That website is different to the one they use on the AFLPA page that lists all the accredited agents - the website listed on this page also doesn't work.

Nas isn't going anywhere and hopefully when this is all over he finds himself some new representation.

Its wild to me that the Hawks missed Hall at Box Hill and Smitch seems to have missed him at Ranges even further back.

I know guys get overlooked all the time but hes such a hawks/smitch sort of player i cant believe they missed it
If we had of won that game vs hawks last year in Tassie, we wouldn't have got him
