I know a few people who have really succeeded in life and I don’t think you’d have picked any of them to have what it takes to do what they do.

You’d think that uber competitive ruthless streak would have been evident but no not a bit of it. All were really good people, smart, ambitious yes but nothing over the top. Maybe some people grow into the role and learn to play the game, it’s certainly not for everyone.

Nearly everyone I know no matter how high up they are has imposter syndrome. Could be my friends are all a bit NQR though.

I have a theory that everyone is 5% to 10% off normal. Some are more than that but everyone is a little bit NQR in some way.

My wife has moved psych and she was trying to deny that it could have any scientific credibility but she has agreed that anecdotally I'm not wrong. I've assessed everyone I know on my theory and it's absolutely water tight. I may attract it because I'm 25% off though.

I’m in doing relatively well in a senior gig within the tech space and I’ve given myself an expiry date in the role because it’s genuinely soul destroying. Stick around for long enough to get ahead in life and then cash out.

That's how they get you. I know plenty of people who were only in it until....

My ears pricked up when I heard it.

My impression was that it wasn’t just opinion but that he had some inkling (somehow).

Hutchison seemed adamant. It was the first time anyone had suggested a deal longer than 2 years. It took Cornes by surprise.

Anyway, we’ll find out soon enough.
Same with me
Cornes also said Port would never trade Butters

One of the things BJ said this morning that he wanted to be a "Saint for life" as a player, and it was not his choice to not be. He is clearly quite bitter that he was made to move on.

He loves being back at the Saints. Stated that he was hired to be part of Ratten's team, but after Ross was appointed was even happier that he also got to be back with Lenny and Harvey again as well as being back with Ross..
Definately wanted to stay. Just wanted an extra year. Dark times after Ross had left. I think Ross is on the record saying he let those champs down.

Stay calm sainters.

Lets hope nas is just weighing up between signing for 2 years or a mega long contract.

Hall is resigned which is great news that we haven’t appreciated enough.

Worry about it being only 2 years later. Puts pressure on our performances in the next two years which we probably do need as a club.

Pou back this week! Resigning to 2030 by the looks. Great news

Windy will stay. He’s a saint through and through, he’ll just be holding out for more money which is recent performances are asking for.

Tdk confirmed coming. Yes huge contract but he’s a big need, people are forgetting Marshall was getting bitched for 3 quarters. He’s been playing injured this year and is still a great player. Also hasn’t reached his peak yet as most rucks do at 28-30. In saying that also looks like Marshall will stay as well, with the sub rule being out next year this will be huge.

Aleer looks prettt much confirmed as well. Yes still question masks but allows tauru to develop forward which is a big need.

Things are looking up saints.
Well said

Not trying to be negative but do you feel that way about Phillipou's apparent 2030 extension? He was great last year for ~6 games but his current "body of work" seems to be about the same as Hall in my opinion.
He is going to be very very good. Saw him paired up with NAS in in a 1v1 contest drill and NAS didn’t get a touch and didn’t look like getting near it.

Same with me

He did. Cornes said any swap of NWM and Butters “was about even”.

But Cornes categorically dismissed the notion that PA do that deal. Said Butters was a “heart and soul” player and not just a mid but a “hybrid mid”.

Cornes also said a swap between the two players wouldn’t improve PA.

Interesting view.

Hutchison's take was one of the most reasonable heard in the media so far, but Cornes was also fair in what he was saying. It would very difficult for Port to trade out Butters early, they wouldn't want to lose him.

Also RE gettable - Port going 'all in'? What does that mean? They're going after picks to compensate the trade?

The complicating factor with NAS has been his form over the last 6 weeks or so. It has gone from very good into the stratosphere. It has been great to watch of course. Couldn’t be better timed by NAS and very good for him obviously. And has emboldened his manager. All a bit of ‘St Kilda bad timing’ if I can put it that way.

But the rise of NAS has been bad for St Kilda in terms of business. The landscape has changed dramatically. The furphy in all this is the TDK story. We can’t get a free agent for love nor money. With the buying of picks not available to us we are effectively buying a pick. Overpaying to ensure we get a good player. The money was in the piggy bank. Sadly no midfielders took our approaches. The twisting of this story in the media is either gross incompetence or outright mischief. I’d go for the latter.

So really these two issues are separate. The tying of them together by the media and some of the football world is wrong. Different scenarios. ‘St Kilda should use the money and just get a midfielder’. Err…..none available. Or….’give the money to NAS’. To say we were doing one as opposed the other is as I said wrong.

Glad Tony has emerged with a calming word.

The Pelican was such a fraud. Supposedly, he got pissy that the board wouldn't let him trade Roo and Joey and that contributed to him resigning. Have a look at what he turned BJ and Dal into and I couldn't be happier that he left, I'm just sad he wasn't turfed sooner.

Going to a stuffy house full of old white corporate guys is how to make someone leave not stay. Should have gone to a strip club and got on the powders to attract an athlete. Time and place.
Lol at the idea a humble family like Nas's would be impressed by rich old white bloke's mansion. If thats our play, we are stuffed.

Brad Hill and Auntie Katrina need to be the drivers in this not toorak mansion people.

I thought the word was Butters wanted back to Victoria for a similar reason that NAS might want to. Family. Thought that was a pretty solid rumour. As a free agent Port couldn’t do that much about it. Even a restricted one.

But apparently only wants to go to Geelong or the dogs because he is from Bacchus Marsh.
