A top 10 pick, plus Harry Dean who is considered a top 10 pick himself - that's the "higher" you're looking for just on a longer timeline.

Florent isn't moving the needle himself, but the list is geared to play a certain way and we're going to need to take a few players of varying "levels" to help address the skill profile. Over the next few seasons, bring in some elite talent (Jagga, Dean, Top 10 kid, Walker), some role players with the right skills (Florent, Rosas, Ison etc.), and hopefully by 2027 we're able to actually keep up with other sides in the run-and-gun game the AFL is clearly trying to manufacture.

I’m more looking at being aggressive this trade period if we can. Push hard and bring in as many good to very good players as we.
If we get it right this off season, then there’s no reason why we can’t be in it up to our eyeballs next year imo. That’s where we should be aiming.(and reading between the lines, it seems wright is planning this way as well)

the only 'small' forward with any class is Williams and he is flaky - doesn't have the engine to play 4 quarter football. As impact players, much better pay-off will be Moir and HOK - maybe Smith too.

An average player usually looks better in a good system - when they enter a new system they get found out.

There are countless examples of this. Just look at the lemons Geelong have sold to other clubs over the years, as a starting point.

If you have a play book to never pick up a lemon... let's hear it...

Reality is, picking up 6 players, who are struggling to impact and mostly from struggling sides is not a sound strategy to drive a team forward...

Spot on. They needed KPD depth, some inside grunt and a bit of depth on their flanks that fit their profile of speedy runners.

We have no first round pick this year and people are acting like we need to go out and target stars. Quality role players who bring speed and skill are exactly what we should be targeting. If they're on the outer a bit and come cheap even better.

That depends on the form of the top liners who will still form the spine of the team in 2026.

Could add 3-4 role players this year and it really wouldn't have made a huge difference as the big guns have all been putrid.
