Cincotta, Silvagni, DeKoning, Fantasia, Docherty, Lemmy, McGovern are likely our list changes. Binns, Like O'Brien will likely be easily payed out. I am not sure about Boyd but suspect he gets paid out as well.

Some of those names can play AFL. Club may think Lemmy goes again, he did improve a lot and was close to a call up. Silvagni and DeKoning of course could end up staying, who knows. Docherty already gone. Cincotta can play AFL but with us moving forward I don't know if we are going to be overly in need of him.

The McGovern thing is interesting. Two reasons to keep his contract open. If Silvagni goes, we may want him to stay. We do need draft picks and we might be looking to shop him around to see what we can get and being uncontracted gives the club the upper hand.

Our issue is draft capital. Sure we can clean a good number of players off the list but we will need the picks to replace them. At this stage 33, 44, 62 is a really poor draft hand so some higher profile names going out may well be just what we need.

I think the club will want to see what they can get for Silvagni as well. Dean coming in. O'Farrell may be out but he confirmed he is future high level AFL quality. Haynes finding a new lease of life.

DeKoning is good but to me he is just a ruckman and quality rucks are a dime a dozen. If he nets us a really high draft pick and we can use that to land someone we really need who will elevate us then sure, let's go.

I think the club knows that two really good modern midfielders gets us back into contention and we can afford to lose a few higher profile players. We already have Smith coming back next year. We might be able to wrangle something to get what we need. Butters has been mentioned and I would be going super hard at that. Train Cerra as a wingman, a position where he was trending on being elite early in his career. Let our young backline flourish. See if there are any bargain small forwards out there but we do know what we have will get us through fairly well to a point.

Then we have walker coming in the following season. I look at us and I see a lot of positive things regarding our list and our future.

Two years time I would be thinking that we will field a side similar to this and to me it is very good.

Dean Weitering Carroll
Wilson O'Farrell Cowan
Cerra Cripps Smith
Hollands Curnow Walker
Motlop McKay Moir
O'Keefe (Z Butters type) Walsh
Charleson Hewett Lord Hollands
Kemp
Evans Camporeale Camporeale Williams Saad Newman Acres Cottrell Young Young Durdin White Hogg.

Our list isn't shit, it's full of potential. A clean out of injury prone players and injury has dropped us. Our coaching and game plan have caught us out and has dropped the list quality, shaping our list for a game plan that is out dated and we have since dropped. It's going to take bugger all to fix us. If we aren't a really good side in 2027 I will be bitterly dissappointed and suprised.

Great talent but way too injury prone. Would love him if we were already durable but not yet unfortunately
Yeah, no more injury prone players please, doesn’t matter how talented they may be, the best ability is availability.

It's an indictment on the club that we have to narrow the type of potential recruits we target based on this criteria. Good clubs can turn those players around (eg. Jack Martin at Geelong and overall Geelong has one player on their injury list only!!). We are not a good club.

So if we lose TDK, SOS, and potentially Curnow to Sydney, what's our plan to replace them?

Usually you have trade targets locked in months in advance. It doesn't sound like we have anyone lined up.

I wish we could take back the 2019 first round pick swap with Adelaide to get Stocker in 2018. We would have got Serong or Young the year after instead.

Stocker has proven over a period of time under multiple coaches that he is a fringe a AFL player at best, not the sort of bloke you trade out a high draft pick for.

The other part of this was that it put Bolton under undue pressure to win in 2019 no doubt leading to his demise when it looked like we had given Adelaide the No.1 pick to get Rowell.

It’s been reported that we’ve been talking to Reeves for Hawthorn and Reidy from Fremantle to replace TDK.

I haven’t hear about anyone being discussed as a potential SOS replacement but I’m sure they’ll have someone in mind if he goes.

According to everyone at the club Charlie is going nowhere so there no need to look for a replacement.

Not sure which thread but saw people mention about the possibility of picking up Dylan Shiel ?

Personally, I'm pretty vindicative on this guy and, frankly, he can go to hell !

Like Brendan Goddard before him when he finished at Essendon, I believe he was a massive Carlton supporter growing up (his dog was named 'Juddy' from memory) and had the chance to choose Carlton on good money. Danced the dance with both SOS and Hawthorn, all the while negotiating with Essendon.

He chose them over us and then we had to put up with Slobbo frothing over how he joined Essendon on less money because he was so impressed with their 'leadership'.

He's had his chance at joining the Blues - stuff him!

Vomited just a little.

We aren't as far off as this year has suggested.

Get some much needed good ball use back into the team-
Newman
Jagga
E. Hollands
Kemp

Get some guts who have had injury interuped years up and firing-
Walsh
Harry
Cottrell

Then we've had a bunch of our stars have a down year - Charlie, Cripps and Weitering. That won't happen two years in a row.

If a couple of our young guys can take the next step-
Ollie
Cowan
Motlop
Lord
HOK
Carroll
Moir

We can surge back up pretty fast. Esspecially if Voss gets a bit flexible with his game plan and takes on board some input from some new assistants

I'd love to add another couple of experienced guys onto the list like Haynes. He's been incredible this year.
Totally agree.

Note - this won’t go down well with the trolls or the perennially negative!

Fat?
No other clubs are chasing after him so just give him a 1 year contract and that's it. Happy to move him on if he doesn't like it.

We need to get more comfortable handing out shorter contract terms. Pitto (4), Young (4), Cerra (5), Cotters (3), Fogarty (2), Binns (2), Durdin (2)..just way too long for a variety of reasons, especially with no safeguards like game triggers. If we lose some of these players cause they can get an extra year somewhere else, so be it.

People were throwing rocks at him all year.

Had a purple patch over the past few weeks against 2 sides that didn't even want to be out there, and all of a sudden he's the next Eddie Betts!?!

I'm all for offering him a 1 year contract....gives him the opportunity to demonstrate how he can perform in big games, where he failed dismally this year. And you're 100% correct, no-one else would even be remotely interested in him.

Frankie has well and truly earned a contract. Would like to see Charla retained as I reckon he’s got it, based on my viewing of the VFL.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the contracted 4 of Binns, Boyd, Durdin and Fog. Wouldn’t be surprised to see one or two paid out if it allows us to hold onto some uncontracted players or bring in some new players via DFA, trade or the drafts.

Our poor season has shifted a lot of heat to Voss when Austin and co should be well and truely in the gun, there’s also amount of bad excisions is, well, a lot.

Paying out one players contract is enough, we can’t do 4 and I’d expect going off selection that, Durdin and Fog are safe but the other two should be looking for a token trade to save their careers.

Fogarty and Boyd still contracted are howlers…

To be fair though, Austin is still trying to clean up the mess SOS left behind…

SPS, Stocker, O’Brien, Dow, Philp, Ramsay etc etc

Agreed and you can add Binns and Boyd to that. None of those blokes would get a spot on a list at any other club IMO.

Nowadays clubs cannot afford to have any list spots wasted on blokes who are just not good enough, let alone 4.
