I think the way they handled the situation exacerbated the impact on the players severely more than just losing one small forward/mid. If they had just fallen on their swords and Rankine publicly apologised on day one they would have had an infinitely better chance of getting their players minds on the job.Fair enough. I just think your criticising a coach for making a harmless comment that I assume you agree with. I don't really get it. I doubt many would disagree with Nicks. Rankine is a bloody good player and his suspension negatively impacted their finals campaigns. That's why it was such a big story that has dominated his press conferences for a month. After they were knocked out, he stopped dodging that part and stated the bloody obvious.
