Is there an actual game plan ???
I don't see it...unless it is the same old "bomb it long and hope thing all over again".....
We still can't kick out of defence...unless it is "bomb it long and hope again"...

I know now....the whole game plan is : "bomb it long and hope" again....

Work through the layers.

I can understand people criticising players and having doubts but IMO this runs a lot deeper.

What happened to the manic pressure of two years ago? Where is the consistent effort?

Early last night we looked good. We had numbers to the ball and when going inside 50 we looked for options and didn't bomb it. We weren't slipping over or making mistakes. Then we stopped. Why?

As I have said this isn't a one off. We have been trending this way for nearly 12 months. That's the concern

This list when playing well is a finals side. Cripps Curnow McKay TDK Weitering are in their absolute prime. I have no doubt but to lead by over 40 points to a very ordinary side is not acceptable by any standards and highlights major issues within the football department

Can count the number of composed players on one hand. And I've still got my finger and thumb free to make the shape of an L on a forehead for the other 19 flops.

Judging by how he launched into Cerra, TDK's new strategy is to kill a few teammates to create enough cap room to match St Kilda's offer.

Can we get a welfare check on Nick Haynes? Pretty sure that was Luke Parks in a mask.

I'm giving McKay the slightest benefit of the doubt regarding his knee because that was an all new level of rubbish, but he has always been and remains a mental dwarf.

We've hit a new low. 3 of our last 5 games (Hawthorn, Brisbane, last night) would all rank in our bottom 10 games of the century.

Walsh is another major concern

Seriously a sub par run of the mill footballer. I understand injuries and interrupted pre season and all but ****ing time to pull the finger out

Cerra started like a world on fire and fizzled out

TDK was soft for most of the game - worked himself into it but Nankervis showed him up once again

Harry - bog roll (but then again even toilet paper has its uses). He is the most passive 6 foot 7 footballer i have ever seen. Has also created a bad habit of going into contests with 1 arm

Motlop - Flop

Haynes - Cooked

JSOS - Smartest player in the team by a mile

Cripps and Weitering - Did their best

Saad - Ghost, game has almost passed him now

McGovern - Nightmare game, looked like he didnt care out there

Hewett - in and out of the game

Ollie - Tried but time to go the next level

Campo - Knows how to get the ball and positioning was good. But was a deer in headlights when he had the ball.

Cottrell, Acres, Fogarty, Evans, Kemp and Williams - Putrid performances all around

Haven’t watched the game but it appears we weren’t in the fight when they stepped up in the 2nd quarter and onwards…

Sounds like a reflection of a poor preseason…and not enough focus on preparing well for this game.

I watched hawks ‘full sweat’ recently and it was interesting how many times Mitchell mentioned their season opener against swans and getting their minds focussed on winning that game. And they went up there and got the job done.

It makes you wonder how much attention we put towards this game over the last few weeks - did we think it was going to be a walk over?

SOS should be off limits in terms of criticism tonight...

The blokes that should be under fire in no particular order:
  • Harry
  • Doc (seriously, you're fresh and you can't hit a 2m hb?)
  • Gov
  • Haynes
  • Motlop
  • Kemp
  • Fogarty
  • Cottrell
These blokes were dreadful tonight, but particularly because I expected so much more from them.
You must add these three, who were largely invisible:

  1. Walsh - wtf....
  2. Cerra - wtf....
  3. Hewett - wtf....

Motlop is not going to be what we hoped he would be....

I understand now why people want some good crumbing forwards....

I thought we had enough but I now realise that ours are rubbish....

Unless Fanta can be our saviour...and that's asking a lot from someone who is constantly injured...

We are doomed......

My only defence of our small forwards is early on they looked good. When you move it in with purpose and to advanatge they do okay. After qtr time we kept bombing it high and their talls just picked us off.

I admit they aren't the greatest bunch of small forwards but we don't make it easy for them

When our senior players play well we look ok but as soon as they drop their intensity we don’t have a core group of other players who pick up the slack.

Our list is so unbalanced.Too many 5-15 disposal players who don’t get involved enough.

Very hard to get back after this.Something not right behind closed doors.

Haynes is the worst player I’ve ever seen

He crashed into Weitering going backwards with the flight of the ball two or three times

He dropped sitters, kicked balls to poor positions on the ground, missed targets by 10-15 meters

Also terrible were Motlop, McKay, Evans and Kemp

Don’t think you can play Motlop or Evans next week, some of those efforts were deplorable

What upset me probably most last night was McGovern going backward with the flight and dropping his head (and the ball) just moments after he watched his 70kg teammate Hollands go backwards and get cleaned up
Early in the 3rd we kicked into our forward line & rather than bend down to control the ball, Motlop tries a weird trap of the ball with his feet, loses possession and the ball rebounds.

So many poor moments beyond skill - the tigers were at least prepared to be front & centre in every contest - where the hell where we mentally last night??

Well said. It's shared responsibility

Coaches will need to take responsibility for many aspects, such as structure, rotations or starting positions, etc

Players missing easy marks, targets, tackles or a lack of intent has nothing to do with coaching

We were completely disconnected as a team

It actually does and massively.

If there isn't trust and belief in what coaches are doing things fall apart quickly.

This is deeper than skils or just saying players lacking effort

I don't believe the players are fully invested in what the coaches are doing

Campo - Knows how to get the ball and positioning was good. But was a deer in headlights when he had the ball.

We used him way too much. It’s like the senior guys didn’t want the pill, so were just happy to give it to him because they know it was his first game and nobody would criticise him.

He got a lot of the ball but a 1st gamer on a wing isn’t going to hurt the opponent much.

Not quite sure what people saw in TDK's performance - he was very poor tonight imo. Got completely towelled up by arguably the BOG in Nankervis. I am bewildered that TDK still makes the same mistakes against these bigger ruckman. Stop trying to outbody him - use your athleticism. Then giving up that easy mark inside 50 for a goal - just poor. And don't get me started on his kicking. Not once did he look where he was kicking - simply a blind long punt.
i thought he was poor too.

His taps went anywhere and everywhere - not to our guys.

His kicking was sub AFL standard.

Yep. That was massive. All down hill from there. Set the standard

Also…
TDK best on ground by a mile
Weitering was sensational
Camporeale brilliant first game
Silvagni solid comeback, particularly looked good forward in the last
Saad had a good game
Ollie Hollands was great
Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, Hewett Acres had a crack as usual
you must have been watching a different game!

TDK was bog average, ditto young Lucas after Q1 and Hollands butchers the ball repeatedly.

Walsh and Hewett abysmal. Saad little better.

Agree, we are the worst side in the competition at kicking to advantage.

Also we cannot have 3 average kicks getting it 90 times a game. It does not make sense. It won't work consistently. Can't play Hewitt, Walsh and Cerra all on ball.

You can't blame coaching for missing easy chest marks or a 5 metre handball, a 20 metre switch kick to an open player

Voss is responsible for many aspects, but not the above

25 more inside 50s, even with long bombs, a small amount of intercepts, small forwards no where to be seen
Long bombs is whats been killing us since our rebuild began. We haven’t been able to develop an effective ball movement, link up play that delivers the ball with some thought behind it.

if H and Charlie are on fire bombing goes ok/good but otherwise oppo slingshot it out easily and make us look like what we are….low IQ footballers

I don't want to be super critical but I feel Lucas wasn't ready to play seniors.
