No, it's hitouts, total disposals, marks, contested marks, effective disposals, intercepts, etc., not these small moments that determine the best ruck in the game.

For example Gawn has taken 70 marks to 19 from one more game.

I call that a big moment. I'll let you worry about the small ones.

What about that little important stat called hitouts to advantage?

You know, arguably the most important for a RUCKMAN?

It’s true Gawn edges Xerri by a solitary hitout per game.

It’s also true that Xerri annihilates Gawn in hitout to advantage numbers.

Almost 18% more per game. Which is huge for an elite ruckman.

Gawn isn’t even top 5 in the league for the stat amongst ruckman.

I would do what you're doing in a hopeless situation.

Gawn's hitouts to advantage are pretty good but it's also well known that every opposition roves to him. So you've got both teams roving to him, which obviously dilutes his percentages in that statistic.

How about you analyse his contribution to scoring percentage stats across the AFL ? Better not...

The Gawn lovefest is over the top.

If you watched the game yesterday, you can see him often pull Darcy's jumper in ruck contests. Call half of those and Gawn loses his slight advantage in the ruck.

He's the WORST ruckman in the league for pressure acts. That's because he's constantly falling over pleading for free kicks (which is ironic given he's usually the one doing the infringing).

There are only three rucks in the league tho have worse tackle numbers and one of them is a VFL ruckman in Goldstein.

Gawn is like the opposite of Xerri. Does little when the ball hits the deck, falls over a lot, while Xerri constantly competes without infringing, provides first use, pressure, and tackles. Has to improve his disposals and he can really start to takeover games.

I think it's cool that they're both such different rucks and impact the game differently, yet you could make a strong case for either as the starting ruck.

So the best ruckman in the comp by a mile in terms of hitout metrics isn’t roved to? Right…

It's not a stat I overly rate. Most rucks are pretty close in terms of hitouts to advantage, ie 9, 10, 11, or 12.

Btw, the claim you're making here is a big stretch.

Witts has virtually identical hitout to advantage numbers (11.5 compared to 11.6) and has a better ruck contest win percentage (50.5 to 42.6).

And in terms of advantage percentages De Koning and Luke Jackson have superior metrics.

Let's talk about aerial ruckmen. The best kind of ruckmen.

And yes, Xerri will get a heap of coaches votes, so I fully expect Xerri lovers will be bumping this thread this afternoon.

Perfect week to try to pretend Naicos won’t be AA. Enjoy fairyland while you can.

Does Bont get in so far on only 7 games?? Will be there by the end of the year i'd think, Rankine at this stage maybe.

Wilkie, Howe or J Daicos over Weiters. Not sold on 2 ruck spots yet, good effort.

I think there's a reasonable case for 2 KPD's instead of 3.

Wilkie has a better profile for the CHB spot and then I agree with Taylor for FB.
Wilkie is a must at this stage, been better then Weitering. J Daicos stiff but Ash, NWM and Rozee would be ahead of him, he or Howe id have for the rotation or bench spot with Zorko.

Bont missed the first 5 games. Couldn't have him in yet. May well if he plays for the rest of the year.

You think Payne and or Weitering are going better than Cal Wilkie?
