Pickett averages almost the same goals with 50% more disposals and a clear superiority in most other categores.

And I don't have Pickett in !
I mentioned earlier how I'm ignoring content outside 50. Goals, Assists, impact inside 50, marks, tackles etc. Then entry inside 50. I'm ignoring disposals. If a fwd starts getting centre clearances I'm not sure they should count for forward work.

I think it's hard because you have midfielders missing out who.played much better than the true wingers.

Kennedy and Rankine on metrics both have 18 goals from. Memory. Be on the wing but then Libba and Richards might miss. What do you do?
Yeah it's a really hard decision, I get it.
I agree that both Richards and Libba would deserve a place more than Rankine and Kennedy.

But when you pick both half forwards as midfielders it means there's only room for 4 forwards in the team, 2 tall and 2 small or more likely 3 tall and 1 small.

Who comes out for either Kennedy or Rankine?

You possibly could put in over Greene

Greene is a lock for me, just so good. That team looks pretty bang on to me.

Ben King is the only one I'd umm and ahh about as yes an excellent goal kicker but if you add goal assists with goals kicks there's probably a better pick there, or quality of the other disposals they have.

But then players who play a somewhat even mix of mid and forward will simply never make an AA team, no matter how good they are. That’s very obviously BS.

Ben King has the lower score. I agree Thilthorpe could easily be there

Pickett from last season and this season is averaging.
14.7 possessions and 1.8 goals

Keays
16.5 possessions and 1.6 goals

Not a lot between them surprisingly!
Rachele this season 13.3 disposals & 2.3 goals.

We just need to get him in the middle more.

He has matured and being trusted talking to media
Last night I said to my mate just get the ball to Rachele as he was doing damage with every possession.

We lost most of our games this year when he was missing with broken ribs... which he has been playing sore since his return.

His most consistent season.

His kicking is well below AFL standard, which stood out like dogs balls when he was playing on ball.

However, he is an elite runner, both in terms of his tank and his work rate, but also his smarts. When he plays that defensive forward role he is an expert at picking the right time to push forward and punish his opponent for not being accountable.

He’s also very strong, and is an excellent contested ball and pressure player.

Now that he has much more quality around him in the forward line, his weaknesses are hidden a bit more and it’s allowing him to have a career best year.

Plus, while his field kicking is still relatively poor, he has made significant improvements to his goal kicking accuracy this season.

His kicking has improved greatly the last couple of years , became a consistent shot at goal even on the run and his field kicking solid now too , just can’t take on the riskier options

I get what you're saying. Higgins has done less overall than a number of other players but done his job kicking goals which is what he's expected to do. I've got him 10 points under other players but he's well and truly kicking more goals.

The wingers would would have much “better” stats if they played centre square and the centre square mids would have much worse stats if they played wing.

They’re just not the same positions. Shame that the AA panel have rarely cared for the distinction.

It’s a completely different role. So much of what a wing does is unrewarded running to create space for others and to be that extra defender.

It also seems to be the trend now that a lot of teams are looking for a wing who is strong overhead.

I’m in the same camp that the AA wing spots should go to the two best wing players.

What else has happened ?

He's taken no marks and has had crap clearances all year.

So? Do you reckon all the people and the coaches who have been giving him recognition week after week go ‘hang on hang on. I was watching and thought he was outstanding….. but one of his clearances was a bad one. Meanwhile shit tonnes of other clearance players routinely turn the ball over as well. But we can’t have that from this guy.’

He’s no Luke Jackson but he goes ok.
