Looks like the penny might finally be starting to drop for Harry Lemmey, fairly soft opposition yes but you still need to be putting in the work to kick 7 at VFL level. One to keep an eye on as he has always had the talent.

Wonder how much Van Rooyen would cost in a trade sense. Has been sent back to the Magoos and hasn’t exactly set the world on fire.

Personally I really liked him as a key back in his draft year and think we could easily reprogram him. Played a lot like Noah Bolta for WA through the champs.

Melbourne would want way too much for him, especially for a player who's not proven as a defender at AFL level.

Very experienced and strong to 26. It's unusual not to have some of those 27-35 group higher and getting games.

The bolded is for good reason! The only interest I’d have is in a KPD role, but I have concerns over his competitiveness and second efforts. Like Cox he gets shifted off balance quite easily and unlike Cox once he’s out of position he doesn’t have much about him to overcome it (Cox is unusually spry at ground level for his size). At least as a defender halving contests can be wins which is why I’d be willing to take a look. What’s his trade price? I doubt Melbourne would accept his current worth…

Hence, why I suggested reprogramming him as a defender. I wouldn’t wouldn’t him as a full time forward.

Given his contract and length (750k @ another 4years reportedly), if we took on the whole contract the Dees might be open to offers.

It’s a no for me then. That’s too big an investment in a guy you’re reprogramming. We have McInnes to return next year, who I have more faith in, on half the contract value and whoever replaces Dean.

That’s not me suggesting it can’t happen rather that I’d prefer that cap space be invested elsewhere than on an uncompetitive maybe KPD.

$750K for an unproven defender?

Would rather: Lewis Hayes, Darcy Gardiner, Ollie Murphy, Wade Derksen, Noah Mraz, James Barrat, etc. who would cost less in terms of trade and contract cost combined.

He's on how much?!? If we're taking on that entire contract I would want incredibly generous draft capital too. Or Gawn :)

Can you reprogram his hands of stone? He makes Dawes clunk look sticky fingered!

Won't be bringing in 9 players this year, McCarthy, McGuane and Saxena maybe a rookie and and a player from another club so 5 max.
I don't think there's any way of categorically knowing this in May. Not many had us nabbing Houston this time last year, and I don't think anyone thought we'd get Membrey for absolutely nothing.

I know absolutes are your thing, but might want to settle down.

I'm still bitterly disappointed we are top of the ladder and didnt go full scale rebuild after last season retiring our all time greats, not going after Pez/Houston and having the youngest best 23 in the comp
An opportunity to be the new North Melbourne lost forever

History suggests we'll have more than 5 list changes.

It kills me to my core posting this, but I think they’re closer to the mark than Quicky. I’m maxing out at 7 including the MSD. I think we only get to 9 through an open SSP spot and taking multiple rookie picks which we haven’t done since 2020 (I think).
