Only agree with the side step.
Finn is great in tight with great hands. Sully is not a better tackler compared to Finn who has a bigger body.
Sully isn’t as proficient on both sides as Finn.
And being 4 years younger Finn has more upside.
With the same extended AFL time as Sully got this year I think Finn would prove himself.
Neither of them are world beaters, but Sullivan was a regular selection in the top team this year. Finn hasn't been close to that.

I don't think either of them will be long termers for us, as they run snd use the footy like inside mids but aren't good enough for AFL in that role and they don't have the skillsets to be particularly good in other roles. Sully will get the nod between the two as he's a lot stronger in the contest.

But you have to remember who have st kilda been able to develop? In our system, he may come on leaps and bounds. Worth the punt i reckon
Hall, NWM, Sharman, Stocker, Windhager, Wilson and Garcia have all shown good signs of development the past 2 years. They then have Phillipou, Tauru, Travaglia and Boxshall coming through as well. Caminiti is a failed forward who has received a lot of minutes under Lyon and they’ve made a conscious decision to upgrade that role. I think that’s instructive and whilst I’ll get behind it in a way if he comes to Collingwood he’s at the back end of a long list of guys I’d be considering…

I think Fin has been treated exceptionally well by the club. Not many guys get 5 years on a list. He's obviously not up to it and the club is doing the right thing and giving others a go

Caminiti?

Isn't he the Saints tosser who had a direct hand in the forced early retirement of our beloved Nathan Murphy?

Hmmm.....

No issues pursuing Buller or Caminiti. Both young and can fill holes for us because I’m presuming given our age profile we’ll be running it back with this list next season.

2026 seems to be the year when we’ll pursue big names.
Caminiti would be a No for me

Buller maybe - looked ok in the glimpses I saw. Based on what I have read can also ruck a bit? That would be more than handy.

Come in peace.

But failed forward?

He is a goal a game young tall forward across his first 2 years in the system.

This year (year 3), due to injuries and lack of depth. He has had to play key back and done a pretty impressive job. Most sensible saints fans rate him and don’t want to lose him. He is 22 in December and has been practically ever present since being listed late in pre season 2023.

Good luck for the rest of your finals campaign.

Don’t want that Cheap Shot Artist
Abaolitely this. Has never impressed me as a footballer and loves throwing cheapies. Would find it incredibly difficult to support him even if he was one of ours.

I'm with you.

A 21 year old who can fill a hole in forward or defence is worth the punt.

I thought he was going along nicely and realistically, he'll only get better. Huge upgrade on Dean when you really think about it

IMO I'm not fussed if he goes, West must be played next year.
I'm hoping West is good enough to be a regular next year too, ideally over Membrey rather than Checkers though.

If we're looking at other tall forwards, it seems as if it's insurance for Checkers potentially leaving.

Billy stays. Fly's favourite player, leadership group this year, best year of his career and we really can't afford to lose a small forward.

Do you think that was a bit of salesmanship from Fly to try to increase the likelihood of him staying?

I totally agree with you, but I find it strange Billy hasn't signed yet.

At 199cm I’m assuming Jack Buller can also play through the ruck?

IMO a fwd that can ruck is our biggest need and Cox’ performance against Adelaide only further highlighted. As good as Cox was he can’t do it all year and I don’t think we should be going into 2026 with McStay as our second ruck again.

He's taken 35 marks in 9 games this year according to Footywire. Would that be accurate

I'd want to keep him too. Won't really know how good he's going to be for a couple of years, but big, aggressive, can move, decent skills and he's looked like he knows what he's doing out there. He's pretty likely to be a long term AFL tall I think.

Yeah as I said, most of the fanbase are very bullish on him.

Ross rates him as a forward and said he wants him back there in post game presser in our last few weeks

He just needs some simple instructions
Agreed - and i think playing the backline aids this for him as I think he has the physical make up to be a solid FB, more in a lock down mold - the caravan as Jono Brown calls it, than an interceptor like Moore or a McGovern type.

Sometimes an instruction just needs to be a simple as "mark it when you can - punch it when you can't" 😂
