This is like the 100th time I've heard such strong comments about Geelong and Butters. Where has this come from and why is everyone so sure? Butters has no previous link to the Geelong area as far as I know and didn't even barrack for them as a kid.

If anything he's more likely to come to us to be alongside Houston

I think everyone is just used to Geelong going after these guys and landing them for peanuts, so he'd automatically linked.

He's a western suburbs boy if memory serves, so he'd have to have a real fondness for Bacchus Marsh Road if he's going to Geelong.

I agree that the only way they get him is for him not to go as a pre-agent this year but to sit out his contract and go next year as a free agent.

If they do get him it would just further emphasise the point that the draft is not the be all and end all when it comes to list building and management.

Really getting tired of the footy media's obsession with declaring players are leaving or up for grabs.

Like, can we just let players play and worry about their contracts and such when it's relevant?

In terms of Bergman, it wouldn't come a surprise -- there was whispers him wanting to return home the last year or two. We were massively interested when he was last OOC.

Yes, but really anyone can tip most players will want to come home & make a story out of it, can't they?

Will be interesting to see what happens with Port players though with Hinkley being in his last year & their relationship with him v Carr.

Yeah the players seem to love Hinkley. Its hard to see whether they get along with Carr, time will tell.

Unless they see him as someone to replace howe? Clubs will always say there is always room for good players. Unless he wants to play midfield.

I don't think we could ever replace Howe. Reef might be that player. I just think he'll cost too much and we could probably get a quality midfielder for the same price or even a Key Defender.

Yeah. I've no idea if we'll go after him again, of course. If we get a key defender, then I agree, Reef would replace Howe, so he doesnt have to play the 2nd key and can be the third.

Feels like Perryman is going to be more of a midfielder with us. Bergman allows us to play Josh on a wing again too. But having said that, with Parker coming on well and a squeeze for spots in defence already I agree our priorities should be elsewhere.
