And in a stronger draft
Exactly
I’d want more for both Cameron + Bobby individually than what they got for Rioli — I know I’d prefer DC or Bobby to Rioli
Staggering

Anyway, I want both DC + Bobby to stay - we need class
If they have to go I’m not bending
We set a super high price or stay - I didn’t force anyone to sign a contract

I’m not liking our chances. I can’t see us holding onto Bobby. We’ll let him go West for family reasons. While we won’t get overs for a player of his calibre under contract, we’ll get something that is balanced

Yep. Luckily for us the long contract gives us control in asking for fair value, but in terms of negotiating they’ll surely let him go.

We can have a player sitting in the stands like this.

Need to do what’s best for the player which in turn is best for the club.

We're not even sure Bobby wants to go back to Perth. The signs say he doesn't. Let's just wait and see how it pans out

Left field suggestion, assuming Mihocek leaves for a longer deal at another club.

Is it worth considering Tom Lynch for a year? Considering we’ll be playing chasing a premiership with Pendles, Sidebottom & Howe on the list.

Yes, I know he’s old and injury prone. I don’t think we can go into 2026 with McStay & Membrey as our only KPFs.

He just signed an extension with Tigers this week.

And last thing we need is another old player. Particularly a hot head injury prone one.

if we are letting the older players go we are resetting not chasing a flag. Keeping players like pendles, Sidey and Howe has no bearing on us still chasing one. You can’t get rid of everyone. Those 3 alone are worth what they do off field with upcoming kids.

Hill's trade value has fallen off a cliff this year. 20 goals for 2025.
Do you not understand averages? Bobby has more goals per game in 2025 than any other year in his career…

We won’t be chasing a flag next year

If we can land Ned Reeves from Hawthorn — and I reckon he’d be a handy pick-up, especially if the rules change — we could push Darcy Cameron forward to take advantage of his height and marking. That would let McStay move into defence and give us another tall down back. Cameron struggles against the really tall rucks but does well against the smaller ones, so he could be a solid ruck-forward option.

We could. Bobby hill alone is worth two picks in the early 10’s, which when combined is fairly close to a top 2 pick.

Carlton did something similar to get pick 3 last year.
They gave up owies,12 and 14 for pick 3.
Hill is worth more than those , which negates the need to add in any sweetener.

Cameron is worth a pick in the early 10’s.
Baker was valued at pick 14, so go figure.
Do you really think a club would part with 2 x top 10 picks for bobby hill? He has barely played in last 8 rounds with personal issues. No way a club would risk even one high pick on him.

Are you kidding me? His personal reasons aren’t even that serious when put into the context of the serious issues that other players in the league have faced.

Clubs will not hesitate to pay two high picks for a proven match winner who arguably hasn’t hit his prime.

Would be absolutely asinine to put the recent events that transpired squarely on him.

Wouldn't mind if the club had a look at Jayden Laverde from Essendon, 193cm key defender that can play attacking and lockdown. Has decent disposal reads the play well and has a long kick that can create offence. Won't cost much and is out of contract has a bit of mongrel that will pair nicely with Maynard.

The man is an utter spud. Pass

Holds his own in the worst backline in the game with no support. Has averaged 5 intercept possessions back half of the year which is more than any of our potential full back options. Definitely an upgrade on both Dean and Frampton.

And even worse...

Eagles had the choice of carlton's pick, or hawks in the barrass deal.

They chose Hawks...

That has to be one of the more bewildering decisions of all time and only shows how badly West Coast are being run.

Hawthorn were playing a great brand of football in the second half of the year and a lot of us were shocked it didn't take them further in September. Carlton went out in week 1 as expected.

Hawthorn added two established KP defenders during the trade period. Carlton bypassed the option of trading for Houston.

Hawthorn have won as many flags as Carlton spoons since 1995.

Who in their right mind would bet on Hawthorn falling below Carlton in 2025.
