Even better. Hold him till next year and we'll get a much better player. Next years draft is the real McCoy. This year's draft will require pick 1
There’s no way you’re getting more next year for an uncontracted 31 year old Darcy Cameron. If you want their 2026 1st you get it by trading for it this year.

I'm not against their next years first pick this year. I'm just saying that you don't offload him for unders this year. If he wants to go this year, he can go on our terms. He's contracted and it's better for us to keep him for next year whilst we have another crack at a flag. After next year we'll be on a bit of a rebuild anyway

Yeah I'd have a crack at the Eagles future first, likely a guranteed Top 5 even if they don't improve much next year

Clubs don’t walk players to the draft anymore. WC could have done that with Baker last year but still traded for him.
Agreed, rarely happens, but does happen when there arent enough levers to pull.

As it stands, you would expect WC to finish bottom 2 again next year & I cant see them trading Pick 1/2 for a 31 Y.O Darcy Cameron.

Baker, 5 years Camerons Junior, was traded for pick 14

I think if we aren't prepared to pay him on his terms, then we should think about trading him at the end of the year & find a reasonable replacement from perhaps a ruck lacking opportunities at other clubs. With Greg Swann saying he wants to see rucks jumping again next year & that they will make rules to see that happens, then I fear Cameron's game will be affected badly. He can't jump to save himself & making body contact is his only method to counter bigger rucks. If our guys are on to this rule change, then we should be pre-empting the change by looking at other options & seeing what he is worth. Just my opinion.

It's simple, they have the need and we have the goods. It won't be the first time a side pays overs for a player

I'd love Ben King but apparently some feel he doesn't suit our style

They traded pick 3 and some later picks down to pick 12.

Watch this space on the West Coast request for support.

AFL wont want to be seen providing compensation to a club whos won a flag in the last 10 years.

Providing them an early pick that has to be traded could be the compromise, opening the door for Cameron getting to the Eagles

It makes zero sense for West Coast to go after Cameron. 31 next year, he will be well and truly retired by the time they are playing finals. They lose their captain and probably Harley restarts their crap rebuild again.

If the AFL give them end of 1st rd assistance pick it’s going to be late 20’s with all the academy and F/S picks.

The other pick they have is 12 which will become around 18/19. That’s prob too much for a 31yr old ruck and we’d think pick 28 isn’t enough for an almost All Aus ruckman.

With McGuane being a 1st do we ask for an Eagles 3rd rd pick this year and their 2026 2nd rd pick. After he is drafted use that pick to trade back into this years draft.

target pick 2 which likely will become pick 3 with uwland bid, and then target the hawks pick that west coast currently possess(currently pick 12).

then try to use 2 and hawks pick to try and see if we can tempt essedon to swap their two high top 10 picks for it.

Or split pick 2/3 for two other picks and along with the hawks pick, draft 3 midfielders.

it is certainly doable given the value of bobby hill and cameron, the only question is, will collingwood have the courage to go against their recent trend and begin reloading for the future.
