I'm not sure what they'll get for him, his knee(s) are pretty f**ked. I've heard Blues supporters say they want Gulden, i wouldn't think the Swans would want to lose him. Will be interesting to see what happens.
What they want is irrelevant. Gulden is a NSW local, there’s no reason he’d go to the blues aside from an absurd amount of money and they can’t afford to pay him that. Same reason why Houston is a pie now instead of a blue

I do follow Lohman. Had him in my supercoach team last year and he was a revelation. But ultimately he's a high marking small forward similar to Elliott. And Elliott's never been valued as a high first round pick plus $800-900k player. Ultimately, every team would want an elite crumbing small that brings goals, pressure, speed and high score assists. Not every team necessarily needs a marking small in their forward line.

I agree that Hill is likely to stay and that he's actually happy at the club. My comment is that he's either going to stay or he will be traded for full value if he ultimately requests a trade to WA for family reasons *if he deems that necessary to resolve his personal situation. In no scenario has he lost trade value where he is likely to be traded for a second rounder/packet of chips because we're not going to be pushing him out.
I think we can assume that Bobby's wife left him for legitimate reasons; she was either suddenly homesick, or there were other reasons for her to leave. Whatever the reasons, it's left Bobby depressed and that's totally understandable.
A few scenarios are possibe:
•1. Mrs Hill comes back to Melbourne with the kids and everything settles down.
•2. Bobby decides to stay in Melbourne and get on with his life, playing with the Pies.
•3. Bobby decides to ask for a trade to be closer to his kids.

I don't know which scenario is more likely, but for lots of reasons, I'm hoping it's number 1.

I don't think Gulden is leaving Sydney. He's an academy kid.

It will be draft picks.
It’s not happening for draft picks. They have Dean and Walker in the pipeline so any picks they receive get chewed up by bids on those two. If it happens it needs to involve a 3rd club.

I wouldn't say it's irrelevant, i enjoy seeing them get their hopes up and then those hopes smashed as they trade him for a slow fringe player.

I certainly wouldn't give up Gulden for a forward with f**ked up knees.

Haha, doesn't matter what Blues supporters want. Who wouldn't want him.

There's not a chance in hell Swans would let him go. They're a completely different team when he plays.

“yeah potentially” when asked about leaving the club.

“It will all come out in due time” 👀

You’re going to have to be specific, as May has had several brawls with teammates.

He’s a colossal campaigner, pass!
He got punched out by Campbell Brown in LA, Jake Melksham at a club dinner, probably 85% of the rest of his teammates for being a general knob

No but it generally helps.

Surely you'd know that it would be borderline impossible to have 44 players (hell, humans in general) all genuinely like each other?

At some point professionalism, love for the club/sport, natural competitive nature would have to kick in for all involved.

Tay Adams and Levi Greenwood couldn't stand each other. You wouldn't have known it out on the field. I've been told stories of other Collingwood players (even Premiership ones) who didn't like each other.

Hell, LEigh Matthews used ot talk about how hardly any Brisbane players liked Aker lol

He was never going to give door stoppers an answer on which club he's going to but that "potentially yeah" did all the talking in terms of whether he's leaving

Worst kept secret in football
How awkward was it though. Clear as day he’s gone and obviously can’t say much yet.

Wonder if “it will all come out in due time” means something has gone down between him and the club? Very interesting.

He didn’t really like Mitch’s question about “walking away from his boyhood club” which says it all 😂

That dude with the bad knees is about to spend the summer surfing. They can't be that bad.

I punched him at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow hotel. I couldn't help myself

I’m wetting my pants with excitement at the press conference with Jack smiling holding up his Pies jumper. My phone will have smoke coming off it forwarding this image to all the Carlton losers I know

The brawl was after a premiership?

Fly and May are different characters but their desire to win mentally would work well.
Pretty sure Fly has a no D-Head policy, hence why he showed Jack the door

Why woud Trac take a 300k hair cut?
The alternative is to rot at Melbourne. There’s precedent.

He may think that 160K after tax PA is a wise investment to grow brand Trac in front of Australia’s biggest supporter base.

He may be less interested in wringing every last dollar out of his contract as he’s already made a truckload.

May value another flag / happiness over bank account balance…

Who knows, just floating a hypothetical.

Interesting that journos seem to be pretty happy linking some very high profile free/pre-agents to clubs e.g.
  • Zac Butters to Bulldogs or Hawthorn (Kornes even suggesting they are offering Kenny a job to ultimately nab Butters)
  • Harley Reid to Hawthorn
  • Petracca to Hawthorn
  • Not that he's a free/pre-agent but Charlie Curnow to Sydney
  • All of the above and every other top 10 player in the league to bloody Geelong (If nothing else, I hate them for this alone)

But with no consideration to whether something like this is possible. Take Hawks for example, I'm guessing Barrass, Battle, Day, Sicily, Weddle, Wizard and maybe 1-2 others would be on high salaries? Same with Bulldogs with Bont, Richards, Naughton, Darcy? Sydney would be similar with Gulden, Heeney, Warner, Papley, Blakey etc.

Do these clubs not have salary cap issues or do they have a pile of first round draft picks that no one else is aware of? Seems to be the first thing brought up as issues if the Pies are ever linked to good players.

It is evident to me that we need a genuine A-grader or two in almost every line, starting with defence and attack. Every other finals team seems to have this, whereas we have a "our sum is greater than parts" style which has been successful but not sure how sustainable
