I got a theory about our interest in Ben King and maybe JUH.

If we get JUH for a packet of chips this year and we go after Ben King as a FA next year we essentially get two KPP without giving up much draft capital which we don't have much of and may be our only chance.

We will then have two extremely athletic talls who are 197+ and maybe one will be trialled as a potential Darcy Moore replacement.

Just a theory, but wonder what we plan to do post Darcy Moore.

Answers like Frampton, Reef, Cochran and even Caminiti having to do the heavy lifting if Moore goes down doesn't fill me with great confidence. But would love to be wrong.
I think I have said it before, but JUH - no way. Imagine the field day the anti collingwood AFL media would have when he stuffs up? And he will absolutely stuff up again. We dont need distractions like that.
Also he hasnt shown anyone why he deserves to be in the league going forward. Its all (nose) beer(s) and skittles until the music stops.

Didn't Frampton do quite well when Moore was out of the side this season?
I thought he did ok. Howe was in to, so that would've helped him.

In the hypothetical were we offered J Daicos for Merrett, they would take it and run. Merritt has no chance of playing in their next finals campaign, while Daicos, being 3-4 years younger, has a chance and should play an extra 60-100 games more than Merrett.
The issue for the Dons, like any club that is on the nose, is that a Josh Daicos level player just isn't going to choose them. If they lose Merrett, they become a much worse team, as he'll be replaced with draft picks. Same with the Blues and Curnow. They and the media can talk all they like about the players that would satisfy them, but that level of player chooses where they go and they aren't choosing to go to Essendon or Carlton.

They should be a completely different side next year. So many injured players to come in and a couple of top 10 picks this year. They probably won't be a destination club but given a good run with injuries, they'll win quite a few games next year.
