The talk of another midfielder..

Maybe this kid.. Works for us anyway

Who gets named with that Award almost always goes in the Draft

I wouldn't begudge him for leaving to maximise his last contract. He's done it the hard way to get here. Got a flag. Maybe two. It'll open up opportunities for Westy next year.

Trac playing the long game here can see him still wanting to get to Collingwood just doing it smarter.

West the obvious replacement. We may look to bolster our talls by signing the WA boy Jack Buller, whom we planned to recruit in the mid season draft - until Swans took him with the 13th pick. Can help out in the ruck and, at 22, is more advanced than Howes (whom we took at 15).
Buller and Howes were different years in the midseason draft. Buller was in the year that we added Smit before him and Long after him.

Given the lack of depth in this years draft, unless its a top 10-15 pick, I'm not sure if they would benefit to trade a player that will help you win games plus help the kids around them.
Thats even without factoring in who has that sort of currency for a 30 year old and the $$ he is on
That old chestnut, you can find really nice players later in every draft.

He’s contracted until the end of 2029. Best value contract in the AFL by some margin.
No way we change that.
Value for us, but not for him. Like it or not, tassie's interest will only force us to rework it. It's just a matter of time.

Value for us is what matters.
Nick will have his contract reworked in 2028.

Mihochek leaving would make getting draft capital for matching bids a bit easier.

Assuming it is a second round compensation, it should take care of any mcguane bid.

Absolutely no issue or thought about Miochek going to Melbourne, imagine it would be a 2 year deal worth a bit more coin. Done everything ever asked, winning the flag would just about mean it would be 100%

Has there even been a ruck who was such a liability with their disposal as ROB is?
I liked the game against us. He took a mark 15 metres out on a 45 degree angle. One commentator asked if they thought he'd kick it. The other one responded with "Do you mean the ball or the goal?"

Yea that is not going to happen. Tassie will start knocking on the door from the end of next year. Our hand in all likelihood will be forced to rework it earlier.

You just hold your breath every time he takes possession of the ball.

I cant see Nick leaving even if its a Godfather offer for the ages. Peter has grounded both brilliantly. You cant buy culture, love for a club, family legacy and mainly a packed MCG most weeks. It may happen but hes a different type of young kid. Mature beyond his years

Given his age, and I doubt the contract is huge enough.. we could get lucky to get a 2nd rounder at best.
But any currency for points especially where mccarthy is concerned, is better than none.

Never said he would leave, it's just that we will have no choice but to seriously increase his annual salary earlier than we probably will like.

We will never be able to match any tassie offer, especially if they use the entire sign on bonus fund on a player like nick.

I don't see nick ever leaving, but imagine if tassie offer him something north of 3 mill a season for 10 years , that's my biggest worry.

I believe we offered him a 2 year deal, if the reports of Melbourne "coming hard" are true, I cannot imagine it being less than 2 years, unless there is a massive pay difference.

Think Melbourne will offer him a 2 year deal with a 3rd year option if he meets certain targets.
