despite not a surprise still think teakle should have been kept

we now just have 3 rucks on the list (X, CCJ and goad)

maybe a backup afl ruck wants to come over
I guess we get one in the mid season rookie draft if the is a long term injury.

Would be even better if we somehow found a way to get rid of a few contracted players like Fisher, Scott, and Corr (even Logue, but we can only dream). I don't know how we can do it, but if we pay part of their salary, maybe at least one or two of them can be moved on.
ordinarily i would agree however practically speaking we would just sign some other cloggers in their spots, its like whack a mole sadly,

Why?. We needed a back up ruck for a few weeks and he proved he wasn’t up to it. Cut him and get another in, easy choice imo.

96 games of inexperience being let go here. These are 4 very easy decisions IMHO from observed form and the teams overall performance in 2025. If we want to get serious and rise up that ladder, then these are the casualties along the way. I suspect others have offers or are being packaged up as trade bait in various shapes and form.

Other players that won't be on the list in 2026 are working with the club to try and find trades. Yup. There's still 3 or 4 more players that will be shed from the AFL list.

Id rather a shot at the stumps at a top 12 pick than two speculative picks in the mid 20s in a poor draft
Hmm it's a tough one. I'd rather shift into the late teens (Lions/GC) with 21 and 39.
But might depend if we get anything for Phillips or Scott in terms of picks/players or pick upgrades.
But you are right that sitting in the top 12 would make sure you will get one of better players available.

And whom are all of those players?

Only name that was mentioned to me yesterday specifically about trades was Phillips, but I was also told that Tucker was gone and there was a strong chance Bailey Scott was too. None of those three were named in today's delisting, so putting two-and-two together...

Yep. If CCJ gets injured, just pick one up in the MSD draft.
Can also look at drafting Ah-Mu, Taj Murray or Ainsworth with a late ND pick if we want a young 4th ruck developing.
Even Burmeister or Harding as 19 year olds could be MSD options.

I've got Tucker and Phillips as two that might have some value to other clubs. Corr I thought hit a trigger. Who else of the uncontracted (that we don't wan to to keep) have any value? Or are there contracted players looking for more opportunity (Fisher)

EDIT Just saw your reply above.

ccj was/is out of contract but reports he was offered a year extension that he is considering. personally iam surprised he didnt bite the hand off the bloke offering the contract in haste to sign.

How can we trade WilPhil if he's not contracted.. As for Tucker and Scott we can only pray 🙏

Yep i think we go mature age again.

Harry Boyd has just been delisted by the saints.
I'd be happy to pick Boyd up if we cut CCJ, he is far better ruck. Otherwise, I don't think we need another one. Goad should be close enough after another pre-season, and if they all get injured, there is always the MSD.

AFL is a weird sport in terms of how player rights and contracts work.

Will Phillips does not have a contract for next season, but is also not a free agent.

So the club can either de-list him (like they did with four other players today), and for Phillips to continue his AFL journey he'd have to nominate for the rookie draft again this year. Then he's available to be selected by any club.

or

The club can work with Phillips' manager about trying to facilitate a trade that gets him to a preferred destination so he has some level of say about where he ends up.

EDIT: this link has some good info https://www.afl.com.au/news/1241333...-know-about-trade-period-and-free-agency-2024

Yes, that's interesting. You would think a player in his position would sign a blank page to stay on a list, unless he has another suitor (that doesn't watch North's games)?
