We are getting smashed all over the ground now. Forwards can't get a kick let alone kick a score, mids beaten to the ball and out-run and too many small bodies being out-muscled. Not a good day, folks.

Forget the stats, most of our players had poor games today. Our AFL listed players didn't do enough and our smalls (AFL and VFL) were out-muscled all day. Willy are always hard to beat at home and they were far more aggressive and stronger at the contest. Remarkably, Willi was able to have more players around the contest, perhaps with an extra mid but also they outnumbered us in our forward half as well. Better work rate I suppose.
I can't see any of the AFL listed players pushing for selection. Baker was our best, Jacques did some nice things to show he is developing, Busslinger a bit disappointing although the conditions may not have suited him. Until Gallagher can learn to not just kick the ball aimlessly forward he should stay in the VFL.

We do look small up front without Croft makes opponents interceptor KPDs have a field day without someone up there crashing into them. Smith needs more help in the ruck too other VFL boys are too small to ruck in the VFL without getting beaten badly

Which is frustrating because we did recruit a couple of raw tall players who could at the very least give us a little more structure or a chop out for Smith. He's developing well but he's getting nothing from Hargraves or Lewis who are not rucks in the slightest.

Agree but its part of his development and he is coming along well

A few photos I took yesterday from DSV Stadium in Williamstown. A tough day for the Footscray VFL team as we lost by 28 points. It was a typical cold Williamstown day.

We touched Willy up at home last yr by around 7 or 8 goals.

Footscray has made two changes for its Round 9 clash with Geelong at Mission Whitten Oval.

Senior-listed Bulldog Liam Jones will return from injury, while Matt Belbasis has been recalled.
The duo come in at the expense of Oskar Baker (AFL selection) and Bailey Young.

The inclusions mean up to 12 AFL-listed Bulldogs could feature in the clash.

The first bounce will be at 5:05pm AEST on Friday 23 May, and be live-streamed via the AFL website and AFL Live Official app.

They will also wear the 2025 First Nations guernseys designed by Kamilya Lowana White.

Hynes very impressive 1st qtr
Love his kicks through the centre from HB, really opens the game up. He did a few of those at AFL as well which we scored from. Lovely skills. Running to get into good positions, wasn’t used a few times where he would’ve been in range to score.
