We are very lucky, Brayshaw, Serong, Treacy would all make great captains.

Disagree. Daicos is definitely a top 20 player, but I don't think he is a standout from that top 20. Bont is a deserved number 1 in my view, and I would say Gawn, Grundy, Heeney, Jackson, Holmes, Smith, Pickett, Bolton, Cameron, Treacy, Butters (and maybe a few more) have either similar or more impact on games than Daicos.

I love Dogga but he’s not a Captain. You don’t put a harness on a unicorn.

He is the best inside out mid in the comp, but that is all. There are a number of players who are better and play a bigger part in their team winning.

Heres a stat: Of all the players classed as mids in the comp he is 106th out of 133 for ranking points per disposal.

I love Cyclone but I don't think he's skipper material given the other options. Let's face it he's clearly a bit mad.

I think Brayshaw deserves it purely on seniority.

Nothing on Serong but i feel Andy just deserves first crack based on that.

And not a fan of Co-Captains.

IMO Treacy.

Captains, in addition to being the natural leaders of the group on and off the field and raising and maintaining standards, which all of Caleb, Andy, and Treacy I'm sure do, also need to be the ones that step up when the chips are down, to break momentum against you, resettle the team, push the game back in your favour. ala Luke Hodge, Carey, and others.

Andy works his butt off but he doesn't do this. There's no Captain's goal running in from 55m (even Pearce has done that from FB). It's a miss/too short/pass to someone else. Caleb gives 100% and is a clearance king, and would be a good captain like Selwood who did the same. But Treacy is a step above again as the game saver marking in defence, taking the pack mark when we need it to kick a goal and turn the tide, bulldozing through the middle to help out the smaller mids, usually unstoppable. He can't be tagged out of the game. That is a captain I want in a couple when Pearce hands over the role.

I am biased as I have always loved Andy, but with respect, i do feel we have short memories when it comes to him. He has made chase down tackles at crucial points in games that lifted the team. Not saying Treacy doesn’t deserve the captaincy but i just wanted to bat for Andy as it feels he’s being undervalued.
 
Andy can have it if he stops celebrating goals like he's an under-12 kicking his first ever goal.

Sorry I'm coming off as grumpy old man yells at clouds here but I want my captain to be stoic, not a puppy dog

It takes all players to make a squad. At
the end of the day, the players will pick the captain that suits them best, but we are blessed with an embarrassment of riches because we have multiple players who will be good at the job regardless. And true leaders don’t need the captain armband to inspire.

I think it was Adam Simpson who said in one of his radio spots that Freo in probably the best lead team on field currently.

He's probably the current number 1 on form. Some of the talk on the main board about him being destined for GOATness is a bit over the top though.

He's also great at late game intercepts reading the oppo's play when they loosen the reins to try to finish us off - or claw back a goal or two deficit.

no way hes been far off his best this season - heeney has been fantastic as has our own LJ. would take either of them over daicos, and i defintely rate him at his best i think hes been the best player in the comp since hes been in it
 
The fact we have such an even spread of leadership captain material types makes me think we can get used to co-captains for the foreseeable future. Hard to split a handful of them.
