Clancy Snell would be priority number 1 for me if we take our first rounder to the draft. I already have him rated at 8 but I reckon he could push the top 5 if he has a big carnival.

I personally think he is going to end up being the highest rated key defender in this draft. He is a beautiful mark of the ball and reads the flight as well as anyone in this draft class. Genuine KP height at 196cm.

Reliable by foot, but he has that good balance between intercepting and locking down on his direct opponent. Got the frame that will really fill out too.

Wouldn't mind getting one of Snell or Hogdson at the very least if we keep it or slide back.
I think transition run is a big weakness, but if you add Devine, Wilson and Demetriou next year, maybe that's enough.
I guess we can't completely rule out the trading one of Duursma, Hardeman or Dawson if we need a way to get a deal done without giving up our 1st rounder for a player or find another pick to match bids on F/S and NGA kids.
But we haven't exactly been that bold in the past, so seems unlikely we'd do that.

Yeah i think we might find our recruiting guys just might be a little more bold now with strategy now we are getting a more balanced line up.

They certainly can be more aggressive with the list being more balanced in going after specific needs/traits.
In 2027 you could almost just match a Sacha Demetriou bid and upgrade a few rookies, given we may have more F/S and NGA's in 2028 like this year.
But curious to see how they acquire another R2 or R3 to match bids. We could go into deficit as well.

Yeah i don't think they will have any problem going into deficit but i think they can work around that and would have even this early have several plans in place.

I dont typically post other teams club tied prospects outside of their own board, but there's a chance KES will be available if the Dogs use all their picks to acquire Butters

----

This one will be difficult to top for performance of the season. Khaled El Souki was incredible from beginning to end, racking up stacks of the footy and damaging like few are capable of. He booted six goals of his own in a variety of ways, from clever snaps to tackle busting running goals, and directly set up his teammates for a number of other scoring opportunities. He was clean at ground level, applied strong tackling pressure, and nearly untacklable with his powerful frame and ability to weave and dodge in congested space. The most impressive part of this performance might have been the audacity to take the game on and try things that most wouldn't dare.

Trade the picks for established talent.

Go get Jacob Weitering, pay Carlton this year and next year's first rounders.

They need points for Walker.

Far out some of his kicking is elite

This draft lacks game breaking talent. If he has a big champs wouldn’t surprise me at all if he goes top 10.
I’m really pleased for the Bulldogs, it’s about time they had access to some top end NGA and Father/Son talent.

Would be targeting Hawks picks (or whoever has them come year end).

We get to trade back and split to get our trade targets in while getting another good draftee, and the Hawks get one more shot at drafting a game-breaking mid type.

Trading with hawks is one of our commandments- we will never ever do it again

Love seeing the 2nd and 3rd efforts from a kid with that level of talent.

Just watching him play I wouldn’t have guessed he was that tall. Very well balanced for a kid that height.

Also seems to make quick decisions with the ball. The anti Ben McKay.

I reckon Blues and Port needing a higher R1 to match or teams seeking a higher pick for Butters would be slide back options for us.

Way ahead of you R08, posted this back in April having only read about Clancy, pleased that someone as astute as yourself agrees.

Going early on this, I really hope we take Clancy Snell. Gippsland Power/Vic Country. DEF, 196cm

A do-it-all defender showing potential to be the best defender in the class, Snell is an alert interceptor at his best coming forward to chop off attacks. He offers safe hands in the air and reliable disposal by foot out of the backline, plus the closing speed and long arms to get timely fists in when required. Snell will be highly coveted in defensive systems requiring proactive roll-up to the ball-carrier where he can make quick decisions and has the speed to close down angles.

The quick decisions with the ball remind me a hell of a lot of Thredgold who was very similar in his draft year.

Snell more capable on the genuine talls though.
