I am getting really pissed off with some of the stories I’ve heard recently about the money being thrown at players playing some good and some ordinary footy. Incredible numbers being thrown at players to get up Mildura way to play. But closer to home one player requested $1200 a game from a fourth division EFnl club and didn’t get it. Then rumoured to be asking $1000 per game from 3rd division club but has landed at a different Div 3 club. This money is not sustainable but beyond that this is to play at clubs at our fourth level. There is no answer to this as there may be 3rd party arrangements involved or other transactions. The end result will be clubs going out of business and I for one will not be sorry to see some clubs go if they have fallen into this trap. By the way my sources are pretty good

A few ruckmen who know they are in high demand are asking for $20k plus a $10k sign-on fee, which they are receiving. One club caught in the bidding war stepped away. They want a ruckman but not at that cost.

Agree with what he said about the points system too. Unfortunately can’t see that happening because the big spending clubs will be against it and they have to much of a influence on decision making

Collected the big sign on fee and will play two maybe 3 games. Smart from him, all the vfl players do it and the clubs get sucked in.
